Ryker POV
I began making my way in the direction where the kids and the tracker were, but I could not take another step when someone moved directly into my path, blocking me.
"Your Majesty," he said, voice casual to the point of insult, "the Boss has asked to see you immediately."
I stopped fully and looked him over slowly. He did not flinch. He did not bow. He did not lower his gaze.
That alone was enough to make irritation coil tight in my chest.
"Do you want to die?" I asked quietly. "Is that how you speak to your King?"
I let my Alpha command bleed into my tone, not fully unleashed, just enough. The air shifted. His pupils widened, his breath stuttering as his body reacted before his pride could stop it.
Good.
I took a step closer. He stiffened but held his ground, jaw clenched as if Dominique's name carried more weight with him than mine ever had.
That was the problem.
