Seraphina's Point Of View
The boardroom doors stood before me, imposing and unforgiving, as if they possessed a weight all their own. Tall. Commanding. Merciless. I froze for a moment, my feet refusing to move forward. Just stood there… Breathing slowly.
In. Out. In. Out.
My heart hammered against my ribs, each beat a reminder of what waited on the other side. "You can do this," I whispered, though the words emerged more like a question than reassurance. The tremor in my voice betrayed the confidence I desperately tried to summon.
Behind me, Rose shifted her weight from one foot to the other. "You sure you don't want me in there?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
I kept my gaze fixed on the doors. If I turned around now, if I saw the concern etched across her face, I might crumble. I might second-guess everything. "I'll handle it," I said, forcing my voice to remain steady enough to convince even myself. "Stay here."
