Seraphina's Point Of View
"You are absolutely insane," I laughed, shaking my head as we both started walking down the hallway toward the general office floor. But beneath the laughter, my stomach churned with anxiety. Whatever was about to happen at that cafe, I knew it would change something between Lydia and me… for better or worse. The only question was whether I was ready for that change, whether I could handle whatever truth she was about to reveal.
Part of me wanted to turn around, to postpone this conversation indefinitely, but I knew I'd reached the point where avoidance would only make things worse.
