Seraphina's Point Of View
I felt the tension in his body, the barely controlled rage still simmering beneath his protective embrace. His muscles were coiled tight, ready to destroy anyone who came near me. But his hands were gentle as they held me, one cradling the back of my head like I was something precious, the other spread across my lower back, supporting my weight.
In his arms, even with the drug still burning through my system, even with my body betraying me, I felt safer than I had in months. Perhaps safer than I'd ever felt.
I leaned against him, my body pressing into his as if I could somehow merge with him completely. Heat flared between us… wild and untamed, a force that had been building since that first unsettling warmth in the restroom. My fingers clenched the fabric of his shirt, nails digging in as a groan escaped against his chest.
