"I'm not Seraphina!" I screamed, my voice raw, desperate, tearing at my throat until I tasted copper on my tongue. The words felt useless even as I spoke them, falling into an abyss of indifference, swallowed by men who had stopped caring about truth the moment they entered the room. "Listen to me! Please, just listen! I'm not her! Look at me… really just take a damn look!"
"And for even making our boss give us this task," another man added, his voice a dark purr that made my skin crawl with revulsion, made me want to shed my own flesh, "that means we must do the job well. Can't disappoint the client, can we?"
