Edward's Point Of View
"We really look forward to the launch of the new phase, Edward," Mr. Vance said, slipping his gold pen back into his pocket with a slick little click. He was still smiling… that incredibly relaxed, almost lazy smile, like he'd just won a vacation instead of giving away fifty million dollars.
The casual confidence in his expression unnerved me more than any hard-nosed negotiation tactic ever could. "The market has been waiting for Moore Enterprise to wake up."
"I... we won't disappoint you, Mr. Vance," I said, my own voice sounding strange to my ears… way too stiff, like I was trying to remember how human vocal cords worked. My throat felt tight, constricted by the sheer magnitude of what had just transpired. I cleared it quietly, attempting to regain some semblance of composure. "We're already prepping the warehouse logistics for the northern expansion."
