"Baby boy? Seriously?" I wheezed out, a sudden, breathy giggle escaping me despite how utterly wrecked I felt. "You? A grown, massive, terrifying man?"
Draven didn't answer with words. Instead, in one fluid, powerful movement, he flipped me onto my back, the silk sheets rustling beneath my skin. He hovered over me, his broad shoulders blocking out the golden afternoon light streaming through the grand windows.
For a moment, something almost vulnerable flickered across his usually stoic features, a rare crack in the armor he wore like a second skin, as if my laughter had reached some hidden part of him he rarely let anyone touch.
"I told you," Draven murmured, his deep, gravelly voice vibrating directly against my chest as he pressed his weight down, pinning me into the mattress. "I can be anything you want me to be, princess."
