After a few more hours of talking into the night and discussing their plans for the future, Huang Li finally felt like their discussion was enough as he stood up from his position in the hall, speaking to the both of them.
"Alright, now that we've smoothed out everything there is to know about the plan and now that Mei'er has finally calmed down… I'll have to leave first… we don't want those scum in the sect to be even more suspicious of our actions…"
Huang Shi nodded his head as he looked towards his grandfather; despite the increased power of his cultivation base, he still felt the weary look in the older man's eyes from years of anguish over what happened to his mother.
Seeing that her father was about to leave, Li Mei instantly rose from her seat as she disappeared in a haze of purple light before appearing right in front of him and giving him a tight hug.
"Sorry, Father… I… I didn't mean any of the things I said back there… I'm sorry if I hurt you."
Li Mei once again felt like tears were about to fall from her eyes as her heart clenched in pain.
Huang Li, of course, didn't mind it as he just gave her a tight hug back and replied with a smile.
"It's okay… I was also like you when I found out the truth… it's just I couldn't risk going on a rampage in the sect without it affecting the two of you… but now with our plans… we will no longer have to hold back… we can take our revenge for your sister…"
Li Mei nodded her head in his embrace as she spoke softly in reply.
"That's right… just a bit more time and we can take our revenge…"
After this, it was Huang Shi's turn to get a hug from his grandfather as the man pulled him into his embrace, patting his back.
"Thank you, Shi'er… for everything… and thank you for contacting me immediately when things went wrong with Mei'er… if anything ever happened to the both of you… I don't know what I would do…"
Huang Shi gave a smile as he shook his head.
"Of course, Mei'er is also my responsibility, Grandfather… after all, she isn't just my stepmother anymore…"
Huang Li suddenly paused, his expression changing while his mouth twitched; before long, he gave a quick reply while staring at Li Mei from the corner of his eyes.
"Alright, brat, don't get too cocky… you and Mei'er still haven't gotten married yet, so this headache still isn't over with… in fact, you better not have touched her yet!"
Li Mei, who was staring at this scene previously with a happy smile, suddenly started blushing in embarrassment as she lowered her head before softly speaking in a murmur that only she could hear.
"Not only has he touched me… he has also pushed something into a place that shouldn't have anything pushed inside of it."
Huang Shi, seeing the murmurs coming from his lover, instantly felt like something was about to go wrong as he moved his hand in a flash, covering her mouth before she could continue to speak.
"Uhh… rest assured, Grandfather, I will definitely wait until I marry Mei'er before I do anything with her! You have my word!"
Huang Li once again felt his face twitching as he saw the blatant lie coming from his grandson and daughter as his head started to hurt; truly, everything about his beloved grandson had changed ever since he had almost died from that assassination attempt—the only thing that didn't was his womanizing ways.
Aigh... whatever... these kids have their own life...
With this, Huang Li finally bid farewell to both of them, but not before fixing the door that he had previously destroyed by activating the formations placed within the estate.
Before long, it was now only Li Mei and him within the lounge hall. Their expressions flickered as if there were some unspoken words between them, and yet both of them oddly chose to remain silent.
Finally, it was Huang Shi who broke the silence first, as the wounds he had sustained from the previous conflict started to flare up—he had forgotten about them in the midst of the conversations they had.
"Shit... this hurts..."
Li Mei instantly felt her body tremble as she grabbed hold of his shoulders before moving her palms downwards across his chest checking for injuries there before finally checking the rest of his body. She knew that some of his bones had been cracked and that there were now bloodstains once again on his body.
"I'm sorry... I... I'm so sorry for hurting you..."
Huang Shi moved his hand across her cheeks, his expression loving and yet a bit mischievous as he replied softly.
"It's fine... I know you held yourself back for me... and I understand how angry you were. It's just, next time, if you are gonna beat me up... be just a little bit softer, okay?"
Li Mei laughed softly as tears once again dripped from her eyes while she wrapped him in her embrace.
"I know... I'll be more careful next time so I don't break your bones..."
For the second time tonight, Huang Shi was bathed by Li Mei in the hot spring. All of his wounds were slowly healing because of the medicines she had on her and because of the system's help.
As she then quickly dried him up after a few minutes and gave him a new set of clothes, and now they were both lying on the bed, cuddling with each other.
Despite already apologizing over and over to him, Li Mei still felt like it wasn't enough. Her expression was still a bit downcast, the guilt she felt still very clear on her features.
Huang Shi kissed her softly on the cheek, his fingers moving gently across her body as he spoke in a soft tone.
"It's fine... just forget about it, okay? Me and Grandfather have already forgiven you... so don't worry about it anymore..."
Li Mei stifled a sob, her body trembling within his embrace as she tried to speak despite her guilt.
"I know... but... I hurt you... I hurt Grandfather... it makes me feel so awful..."
