Amelia lay on the bed, her mind racing with thoughts that had been bothering her a lot lately. She knew that her body was in its fertile window, a time when new life could be created.
Still, she was alone in their marital bed again. Her husband was always busy going out and leaving her alone. And now he was probably busy with his priestly duties until the early hours of tomorrow's morning, as he usually was.
She let out a sigh as she looked up at the ceiling. "I hate this phase when I'm ovulating..."
"And what frustrates me the most is that we're not permitted to have another child because the Goddess of Life instructs us, priestesses, to only bear one child to help us resist our desires."
"However, when a woman is ovulating, she often finds it difficult to resist her urges..."
"When I tried to ask my husband to do it, even without wanting to get pregnant, he always dodges it by saying that the goddess will curse us..."
"Ugh... over time I started to hate the situation."
