Chapter 111 - Demonstrating Power

"I need you to take this thing, find Thanos, and then press it."

Lucas flipped his hand, took out a button, and handed it to Rocket, the most trustworthy… raccoon… in the Guardians of the Galaxy.

"Is this… a button?"

Rocket took the button, examined it for a moment, and asked, puzzled.

"Find Thanos, then press this. What's the use of that?"

Lucas explained seriously, "This isn't an ordinary button, this is a Lucas Brand button. Pressing this button will summon Lucas."

Rocket fell silent.

He felt Lucas was talking nonsense. If he weren't genuinely outmatched, with his fiery temper, he would have definitely beaten him up.

However, as the technical lead of the Guardians of the Galaxy, he had to confirm some technical details.

"So, Lucas, can you tell me how long it will take from the moment I press this 'Lucas Brand button' until you receive the signal and come to support us?"

Lucas said confidently, "Infinitely close to zero. It uses principles similar to quantum mechanics. As soon as it's pressed, I'll get a response. Then, I can arrive directly through a portal."

After speaking, Lucas gestured with his hand, opening a portal to demonstrate to Rocket.

Rocket was still somewhat skeptical. "But many portal technologies have distance limitations."

Lucas shook his head, not directly answering Rocket's question, but instead asked Rocket, "Rocket, you keep confirming this not because you're worried I can't arrive in time, but because you fear Thanos, right?"

Rocket's expression stiffened, and he snapped, "Nonsense, I'm not—"

He trailed off, his voice barely audible.

"Gamora and Drax, they want to seek revenge on Thanos. Hatred will mask their fear."

"But Rocket, Star-Lord, and Groot, the three of you don't have that."

Lucas's words were incisive, striking at Rocket's heart.

Unbeknownst to them, the newly formed Guardians of the Galaxy was already facing a crisis of disintegration.

"Just lead the way, Gamora and I are enough. We don't need you." Drax suddenly said.

He had also realized that this was his personal vendetta with Thanos, and there was no need to involve friends he had only recently met.

"Wherever Gamora goes, I will go." Star-Lord stood up, interjecting.

Subsequently, Groot also stood up with a blank, adorable expression, stating his position.

Rocket put away the button he had just received from Lucas, feigning indifference. "I'm not a coward."

"You guys…"

Gamora looked at them, her lips moved, but in the end, she said nothing.

Once the team atmosphere eased, Star-Lord perked up, "Lucas, tell us your battle plan in detail."

Lucas looked at Star-Lord strangely and retorted, "Battle plan? Haven't I already finished explaining it?"

"You're not going to ask me what to do after we find Thanos, are you? It's simple, I'll just charge in directly, he can't beat me."

"But his fleet—"

Star-Lord was interrupted by Lucas before he could finish his sentence.

"Ronan also had a fleet, was it useful?"

Star-Lord fell silent. He, a 'mortal,' couldn't quite keep up with the thinking of a formidable person like Lucas.

At this moment, Gamora spoke, "Thanos is far stronger than Ronan, even Ronan with the Power Stone."

Lucas nodded, saying nonchalantly, "I know, but so what?"

"Gamora, you believe Thanos is unconquerable because you are in a well. If you step out of the well and see me in action, you will know the vastness of the world."

As his words fell, crackling sounds echoed. The Mirror Dimension spread, enveloping them, teleporting them into the void of space.

"Holding plansts, destroying stars, there is no one like me in this world."

As a low murmur sounded, a distant planet was grasped by a glowing white energy hand and hurled towards them.

Guardians of the Galaxy: "!!!"

Just as the planet was about to collide with them, the large hand caught the planet again and flicked it back.

Seeing the Guardians of the Galaxy still shaken, Lucas's lips curved slightly.

Was it the wind moving?

No, it was their hearts moving.

What moved was not the planet, but the Mirror Dimension.

When the Guardians of the Galaxy had somewhat recovered and looked at him, Lucas made a gun shape with his fingers, pointing at the distant planet. Green light swirled around his fingers.

The next instant, the star's energy was drawn, condensing into a beam of energy that traversed an infinite distance, striking that Planet.

Boom... Boom...

Accompanied by the impact sweeping through, this lifeless planet in a lifeless galaxy exploded and disintegrated, turning into a cloud of dust in the Universe.

A Planet as a plaything in his palm, extinguishable with a flick of a finger.

What immense power!

Space shifted, and they returned to the banquet.

The Guardians of the Galaxy no longer had any objections to Lucas's battle plan.

After confirming the battle plan, Rocket suddenly asked, "Lucas, can Nebula act with us?"

"Of course she can."

As the words fell, sparks flickered, and a portal opened.

Then, Nebula stepped out.

Immediately, her gaze locked onto Gamora.

Gamora's expression quickly changed from concern to cold sternness.

"Nebula, you'll be acting with them from now on."

After instructing Nebula, Lucas said nothing more, lowering his head to silently eat.

At this point in time, the relationship between Nebula and Gamora was not harmonious. They were raised by Thanos from a young age in a ruthless method.

They competed and fought constantly since childhood. The losing party would have a part of their body removed and replaced with machinery. Nebula was always the one who failed.

Nebula's gaze shifted from Gamora to Lucas, and she said in a deep voice, "I can complete the mission by myself."

Rocket's lips twitched.

He had specifically suggested that Nebula act with them because he found Lucas's attitude towards Nebula to be uncertain.

If she was an enemy, he would kill her. If she was an ally, he would ignore her.

If Nebula acted with them, she would be an ally. If she acted alone, she would be a captive, an enemy.

This change in identity determined Lucas's attitude towards Nebula. However, Nebula seemed not to understand.

But fortunately, Gamora understood. Putting away her cold, stern gaze, she said softly, "Sister, I need your help."

One sentence, and she had Nebula under control.

Nebula's expression softened slightly, but she still scoffed, "Is that so? Gamora, who always perfectly completes missions, also needs the help of a failure like me."

Gamora took a deep breath and said, "Yes, I need your help. Sister, we have never been enemies. Moreover, we have a common goal."

Nebula nodded. "Yes, a common goal."

Thanos!

Both Gamora and Nebula believed that Lucas could defeat and even kill Thanos.

The former had witnessed Lucas's flick of a finger cause a Planet to perish.

The latter had seen him casually holding the Power Stone as if it were nothing.
