The next morning.
Early in the morning, Lucas got up to prepare breakfast.
He decided to listen to the Ancient One and slow down to enjoy life.
Although he had already enjoyed half a month on Xandar, after that, he fought Thanos for nearly ten days, without rest.
On the dining table.
A serving of pasta + a bowl of noodles + 4 steaks + 3 beef balls + 3 pork balls + rich and nutritious soy milk.
This was for Lucas, delicious and nutritious.
Egg sandwich + milk.
This was for Gwen, simple and nutritious.
Gwen's voice softly sounded. "Lucas, did you take the wrong one?"
Pointing at the breakfast in front of them, Gwen stared at Lucas.
Lucas lightly tapped the table, a spark flashed, and an identical breakfast appeared on the dining table.
He was just being playful, teasing Gwen, "I was just worried you wouldn't be used to it."
"That's more like it." Gwen rolled her eyes.
She suspected Lucas was deliberately retaliating for her kicking him out last night to patrol New York.
"By the way, Gwen, do you have an early class today? Do you want me to drive you there?"
While enjoying the burst of flavor in his mouth, Lucas asked.
"School is suspended for a while." Gwen replied, also eating.
"Why?" Lucas asked.
"Why?"
Gwen looked up at Lucas, her tone soft. "The school is almost a ruin, how can we have classes?"
Lucas gave an awkward smile. He almost forgot, most of New York had been turned into ruins by him and Thanos.
He changed the subject, "Gwen, eat more."
"Mhm."
Gwen nodded, and after clearing her own breakfast, she set her sights on Lucas's breakfast.
'I don't know why, but my appetite has grown again recently. It's like, right after I was bitten by the mutated spider.'
As a 'superhuman,' daily metabolism consumes a lot. Naturally, she also needs to consume more food.
But Gwen still felt that her food intake recently was not right.
"Lucas, did you do something to me?"
"Yes, I've been nourishing you with energy recently."
Ring...
A phone call interrupted Lucas's explanation.
The phone showed the contact as Coulson.
The call connected, and Lucas spoke playfully, "Coulson, you finally learned to call me instead of painstakingly flying over."
On the other end of the phone, Coulson, who was about to speak, froze at these words.
Did he not want to call Lucas?
It was just that Lucas's phone was usually unreachable, which was why he had to stake him out at the bookstore.
Of course, there was another point. Formal matters should be discussed offline if possible.
"Lucas, if your phone were available twenty-four hours a day, I would definitely thank you."
Lucas chuckled. "I'll try. Coulson, is there something you need me for?"
Coulson explained, "Last night, S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents discovered a group of… aliens. They claimed to be your friends, Lucas, and wanted to retrieve some alien wreckage."
Lucas asked, "My friends? Are they five aliens and half an Earthling, and do they call themselves the Guardians of the Galaxy?"
"Yes," Coulson confirmed.
Although he didn't understand why Lucas said half an Earthling, the other characteristics generally matched.
Most importantly, satellite surveillance had captured how that group arrived on Earth the day the portal opened.
Calling Lucas was just a routine confirmation.
"Whatever they want, let them take it." Lucas said casually.
Although Lucas liked to order people around and enjoyed getting things for free, he wasn't completely freeloading.
The Guardians of the Galaxy helped him find Thanos, so he released Nebula.
His battle with Thanos destroyed Star-Lord's Milano. Normally, after he was done, he would find a way to compensate him. Now, being able to use Thanos's warship wreckage as compensation was a good thing, saving some trouble.
"I told you, we're Lucas's friends. Oh, be careful, don't break this thing."
On the other end of the phone, Rocket's irritable voice faintly came through.
"Coulson, a friendly reminder. That short raccon, about 1.2 meters tall, is a super genius. If you have any questions about studying the alien warship wreckage, you can ask him, if he's willing to answer."
"It's 1.22 meters, not 1.2 meters!"
Rocket's voice came again, much louder this time.
He either hacked the communication or snatched Coulson's phone.
"My friend, your eyesight is good, you saw that I am a super-super genius. But your vision might need correction."
"I know a doctor whose medical skills are excellent, and his surgery success rate is one hundred percent. If you need it, I can help you make an appointment."
Facing Rocket's complaint, Lucas was unfazed. "That won't be necessary. To operate on me, your doctor might need more practice. I'm not talking about skill, I'm talking about strength."
"When are you leaving Earth? Let's get together before you go, I'll prepare a gift for you."
Rocket replied, "Not sure, maybe a month. Star-Lord rarely gets to return to his home planet, he wants to stay longer. We'll contact you before we leave, Lucas."
After speaking, Rocket hung up the phone, and Coulson's voice sounded.
The mystery was solved, Rocket had hacked and intercepted the communication signal.
"Lucas, thank you for the reminder."
"You're welcome."
The call was hung up again.
Lucas looked at the dining table, which was empty.
His gaze shifted, Gwen was slumped in a chair, stroking her flat stomach. Although she ate a lot, she digested it quickly.
"Lucas, I'm heading out. New York isn't peaceful lately, and the citizens of New York need their friendly neighbor, Ghost-Spider."
"The bookstore will open soon, remember to look after the shop."
Without waiting for Lucas to reply, Gwen climbed out the window.
—
"G'iah. I have a difficult and important mission for you."
"Uncle Gravik, what mission?"
Gravik pointed at the young man on the screen, about 1.88 meters tall, wearing a plain white robe. He stood proudly in the sky, with an extraordinary and refined demeanor.
"This is Lucas, who sank Japan and whose battle aftermath destroyed most of New York City. According to reliable sources, he operates a bookstore in New York."
"G'iah, I need you to find a way to get close to him, use our talents, and acquire his information and abilities."
G'iah is the daughter of the Skrull patriarch. Like Gravik, they are both Super Skrulls.
Ordinary Skrulls can freely change their appearance. After contacting a target, they can disguise themselves as the target and also copy their memories.
And Super Skrulls can even copy the abilities of the person they imitate.
