Chapter 127 - Nick Fury's Painful Resurrection

After a long while, G'iah finally recovered from her shock.

"Mr. Lucas, you know my identity and purpose?" G'iah asked, puzzled.

Lucas took a sip of his coffee and calmly said, "I know, but it's not important. As long as you don't bother me, I don't care about the Skrull's affairs."

G'iah remained silent.

She seemed to be hesitating about something.

"Are you perhaps wondering why you couldn't copy my abilities?"

Seeing that G'iah didn't speak, Lucas had to take the initiative.

G'iah looked at Lucas, nodded gently, and waited for his explanation.

What Lucas said was exactly what she was thinking. She didn't believe that Lucas had no superpowers at all.

"Perhaps the gap in life levels is too great. Therefore, your abilities are ineffective against me." Lucas took a sip and slowly explained.

"According to my classification method, your life level is only in the first stage, at most the early second stage."

"Whereas my life level has already reached the late third stage, peak perfection, and is about to reach the fourth stage."

"If you're lucky, you might be able to copy some incomplete abilities from me. If you're unlucky, getting nothing is also normal."

"Just like Wanda, you just copied two abilities from her, didn't you? But those two abilities are only her most superficial ones. Her true abilities, you likewise cannot copy."

"G'iah, don't be too superstitious about the Super Skrull's copying talent. In this world, the most top-tier abilities are all unique."

Lucas didn't lie to G'iah.

At least, he thought so.

All abilities require strength to support them. Compared to the type of ability, strength is the fundamental aspect.

The so-called ability to copy is quite good for compensating for shortcomings. But if it can't break through the upper limit, then that's all it is.

In "X-Men: Apocalypse," Apocalypse, the Mutant ancestor, acquired countless Mutant abilities, and none of them were weak.

In the end, wasn't he still wiped out by the Phoenix Force?

...

After G'iah left the reading room, she found a quiet place and called Gravik.

"G'iah, did you succeed? Can you transform into Lucas's appearance and obtain his memories?"

Although Gravik couldn't see, G'iah still slowly shook her head.

She had tried, not only Lucas but also the appearance of the little girl selling drinks, she couldn't transform into.

"He found me."

Gravik: "!!!"

Bethesda, a secret S.H.I.E.L.D. Base.

The resurrection plan for the late S.H.I.E.L.D. Director, Nick Fury, was proceeding in an orderly fashion.

The overall person in charge of the plan was Phil Coulson.

S.H.I.E.L.D. had two resurrection methods.

GH.325 and Dragon Bone.

Considering Lucas's reminder, Coulson decided to use the first method to resurrect Nick Fury.

'Director Fury, although this method comes with immense pain, I believe you can endure it.'

"Begin the surgery."

At Coulson's command, a top medical team began operating on Nick Fury and injecting GH.325.

After the GH.325 injection, cell regeneration occurred in Nick Fury's chest wound. Nick Fury's consciousness also suddenly recovered.

His entire body was paralyzed, and Nick Fury couldn't move, he could only move his lips, pleading.

"No, stop, quickly stop."

Through the wall above, Nick Fury saw clearly what was happening to him.

His scalp and skull were peeled back, and a parallel medical robotic arm was operating on his cerebral cortex. This pain seemed to reach his soul, and no anesthetic had any effect.

"Let me die, please."

"Really, I beg you, let me die."

The pleading in Nick Fury's tone moved the medical staff.

"Perhaps this is a mistake, who gave the order."

"Acting Director Coulson."

Inside the operating room, Nick Fury's pleas continued.

Outside the operating room, Coulson cheered on his old superior.

"Director Fury, you can do it, hold on."

After a long time, the operating room door opened.

"The surgery was successful, but the patient is already immersed in painful memories and cannot extricate himself. If this continues, his mind will collapse."

"Director Fury will definitely hold on, he is the King of Agents, the extraordinary leader of S.H.I.E.L.D."

Just as Coulson was secretly praying for Nick Fury outside the operating room—

A brilliant golden beam of light streaked across the sky, heading towards the operating room.

When the light dissipated, a golden-haired, gleaming, sturdy woman in a combat suit stood beside Nick Fury.

The person who had arrived was Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers.

Nick Fury had successfully pressed the pager when he was attacked by Ebony Maw and was on the verge of death.

But unfortunately, Carol had to fly back slowly. She couldn't, like Lucas, arrive directly through a portal.

"Carol, kill me."

Noticing Carol out of the corner of his eye, Nick Fury pleaded.

"What's going on, Coulson? What happened to Fury?" Noticing Coulson entering, Carol asked.

Coulson was brief and to the point. "Director Fury unfortunately died in an attack by Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian, the generals of the Dark Order."

"I used GH.325 to resurrect him. A side effect of GH.325 is immense pain. Director Fury is now being tormented by the painful memories of the surgery."

Carol looked at Nick Fury on the operating table, a flicker of unbearable emotion in her eyes. After more than a decade apart, she didn't expect her old friend to suffer such torment.

Drawing on her own experience of being brainwashed by the Kree and eventually regaining her memories, Carol encouraged Nick Fury.

"Fury, hold on. Conquer your memories, control them. Believe in yourself, you can do it."

"I can't. Kill me, please, Carol. Kill me."

Seeing Nick Fury's will to live constantly weakening, Coulson quickly comforted him, "Director Fury, just a little longer. I'll arrange a memory transplant surgery for you immediately. After the surgery, you will forget these painful memories."

Carol frowned.

Because of her own experience, she was very averse to memory transplants. But at this moment, seeing her friend's painful appearance, she wouldn't object inappropriately.

Nick Fury, after all, isn't a strong warrior.

After a silent sigh, Carol walked out of the operating room.

After Coulson also came out, she asked, "What happened next? Did the Dark Order slaughter half of the creatures on Earth?"

"No." Coulson shook his head.

"We captured Ebony Maw and killed Cull Obsidian."

"The Dark Order won't give up. Its master Thanos is far more terrifying than Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian." Carol's tone was somewhat worried.

Although she was confident in her own strength, facing a behemoth like the Dark Order, she still felt that she was willing but powerless.

"There's also a powerful extraordinary warrior on Earth. His name is Lucas, and he killed Thanos." Coulson added.

"Huh?!"
