"Ha!"
In the South Forest, little Goku slapped a five-meter-tall, fire-breathing bear to death with a single palm.
Instead of roasting it as usual, he pulled a magic book from his box: How to Conjure a Feast in Minutes.
It was a tome of culinary magic.
Master its spells and you could turn raw ingredients into a lavish banquet in just a few minutes.
The core principle was an array of extensions to the Deformation Curse.
Until now, Goku hadn't been skilled enough to cast the spells inside.
But after this period of steady progress, his deformation magic had improved; it was basically within reach.
Book in one hand, he flicked the other through the air while rattling off incantations.
Moments later, the bear's massive body dissolved into a spread of dishes.
Steamed, roasted, and boiled bear meat, every style, filled the air with rich aroma.
He snapped the book shut and dug in with gusto.
"Time to train!"
With his stomach full, Goku began his daily physical regimen.
If nothing else interrupted him, he never skipped body training; only a stronger body could birth stronger Ki.
Ki was the root of every Move he performed.
He chose a suitable log from the forest, hoisted it onto his shoulder, and carried it to the clearing in front of the dorm.
"Engorgio!"
He pointed at the timber; already huge, it swelled even larger.
Hoisting the log, he started his routine of weighted frog-jumps, push-ups, and laps, forging his Physical Body from the ground up.
As the Sun dipped, guild Mages drifted back toward the dorm in twos and threes. "What the—?"
Tipsy Mages, nearing the dorm, rubbed their eyes in disbelief.
"I swear that giant tree is dancing!"
"You're drunk. That's someone frog-jumping with a log on his back!"
Not every Mage had drunk, and not every drinker was wasted.
Cana, who could drain barrels without a hiccup, clearly saw the new recruit, little Goku, training under the weight.
"No wonder he can fight without magic—his strength is insane."
The log was almost tall enough to block the dorm; it had to weigh close to a hundred tons.
Carrying that for exercise? Even Erza couldn't manage it.
"If he can do that without magic, imagine after he learns Giant Magic."
Everyone knew Goku would study Giant Magic under the master.
Giant Magic amplified your base strength—the stronger your original body, the mightier the colossal form.
If Goku could grow a hundred meters like the master, even the top-ranked Wizard Saint wouldn't stand a chance.
"This boy has the makings of a Wizard Saint!"
"Good evening, everyone!"
Seeing the crowd, Goku flung the log aside and waved cheerfully.
BOOM!
The timber struck the ground so hard the earth seemed to tremble.
"E-evening…"
The Mages sucked in a collective breath and stammered back.
"I thought Erza, Natsu, and Gray were monsters—this one's worse.
He'll make S-Class before Erza does."
Erza Scarlet, the guild's strongest female Mage.
She'd taken dangerous solo jobs at thirteen and become an S-Class Mage at fifteen.
The youngest in guild history to reach S-Rank.
The next day, in a clearing behind the guild's eastern forest.
Makarov beamed at Goku, wrinkles deep enough to trap mosquitoes.
He'd woken to Mirajane's tale of the boy's divine strength, lugging a hundred-ton log for exercise.
Originally he'd only wanted Goku to learn Giant Magic for self-defense on future jobs.
He hadn't expected the boy to ever reach his own hundred-meter stature.
In all these years, only Makarov himself had achieved that final form.
Yet tiny Goku was so gifted he seemed born for Giant Magic.
With his Aptitude, he wouldn't need a hundred meters—thirty or forty would equal Makarov's hundred in power.
And reaching thirty-four meters was feasible for anyone with decent magical talent.
"Our magic splits into Holder and Caster types; Giant Magic is Caster."
Master Makov produced the grimoire and began the lesson.
Goku, still new to this World, interrupted at once: "What's Holder? What's Caster?"
Makarov wasn't surprised; he patiently explained: "Holder types rely on a magical item to cast—like Lucy who joined yesterday.
She uses Celestial Spirit keys to summon spirits.
Or Cana, who channels spells through her cards.
Others use rings, wands, and so on.
The upside is versatility: different tools grant different powers.
Each of Lucy's spirits offers unique abilities.
Each of Cana's cards is a distinct spell.
The downside? Lose the tool and you're nearly helpless."
Knowing magic doesn't mean understanding it; many kids cast by instinct without System training.
He assumed Goku was the same and folded basic theory into today's lesson.
"Caster types shape spells directly from our own magic.
Natsu's Fire, Gray's Ice, and the Giant Magic I'll teach you.
We need no items; as long as we have mana and can Move, we fight."
"Then I definitely prefer Caster."
Goku nodded.
Holder types sounded like wizards with wands.
Wouldn't an Expelliarmus end the fight in a snap?
