Chapter 99 - Chapter 99 Lockhart Suffers a Hidden Loss

Entering Gringotts, Charlie casually found a window.

The Goblin remained aloof, not even looking up, just mechanically recording something on a parchment.

Charlie pulled out two fist-sized gold nuggets and threw them directly onto the counter.

"Thud."

A dull thud sounded.

The Goblin's gaze was drawn, and the moment he looked up, his eyes went wide.

Two pieces of gold glittered under the light, the Goblin's pupils dilated, and his breathing quickened.

He put down the quill in his hand and carefully touched the surface of the gold nuggets with his thin, dry fingers.

"Is this pure gold?" the Goblin's voice was filled with greed.

"Of course, convert it all into Galleons for me."

The Goblin picked up an instrument to measure, and after confirming it was pure gold, he began to weigh it with a scale.

"2645 grams."

The Goblin quickly manipulated the abacus, his fingers moving so fast they were almost a blur.

"According to today's exchange rate, it can be exchanged for 5291 Galleons."

Charlie nodded.

"I want to take 1000 Galleons, and the rest will be deposited into my vault."

The Goblin slowly took out 1000 Galleons, reluctantly handing them to Charlie.

"One thousand Galleons, please count them."

Charlie took the Galleons and turned to leave Gringotts.

When he arrived at Flourish and Blotts, Harry and the others were already waiting outside.

Charlie had been delayed for some time exchanging the gold.

Actually, Charlie didn't need to buy books at all; he wouldn't read them anyway.

But if he really didn't buy them, Charlie felt that no Professor would let him off the hook.

A large crowd had gathered outside the bookstore, most of them middle-aged Witches like Mrs. Molly.

A banner hung on the second floor: Lockhart Signing and Selling Autobiography "Magical Me".

"It's Lockhart! We can see Lockhart with our own eyes!"

Mrs. Molly's eyes sparkled; she was a loyal fan of Lockhart.

"Molly, do we really have to queue?"

Mr. Weasley's tone was helpless.

"Of course we have to queue!" Mrs. Weasley's voice rose an octave.

"This is Lockhart's autograph!"

Charlie had no intention of queuing for an autograph.

But with so many people blocking the entrance, it was troublesome to get in and buy books.

He looked inside.

Lockhart was sitting behind a table, wearing a blue robe, his blue eyes sparkling under the light.

His golden wavy hair was meticulously combed, giving him the air of a legendary Wizard.

Behind him hung a large photo of himself, in which Lockhart smiled at the people around him, occasionally winking.

Mrs. Weasley's eyes gleamed.

"He truly deserves the Most Charming Smile Award."

Someone in the crowd shouted at Lockhart: "Lockhart, give us a smile!"

Lockhart looked up, the corners of his mouth curving slightly.

"It's been a long time since I've done this, many years," his voice was magnetic.

"After all, I don't drive away banshees with a smile."

He paused, looking around.

"But since everyone is asking."

"Then I'll give everyone a smile."

Lockhart revealed his pearly white teeth, a perfect eight-tooth smile.

Sunlight streamed in through the window, hitting his face directly, making his entire being seem to glow.

"Ah, just showing off a little, showing off a little."

Mrs. Molly and a host of fans exclaimed how charming he was, with several Witches even screaming.

Mr. Weasley stood by, looking displeased.

"Oh, his smile really makes me..."

Mrs. Molly narrowed her eyes and shot him a warning glance.

He immediately changed his words: "It really makes my heart pound."

Then he looked utterly miserable, as if he had swallowed a fly.

Just then, Lockhart noticed Harry at the entrance, and his eyes instantly lit up.

He excitedly put down his quill and quickly walked over to grab Harry's arm.

"Isn't this Harry Potter!"

Fans made way, letting out gasps of surprise.

Lockhart ignored Harry's reaction and pulled him directly to the table.

"Come, Harry, smile, this will be a groundbreaking photo."

Harry's face instantly flushed; he didn't like such scenes and felt his face burning.
