Chapter 49 - Chapter 49

Mireth's inner rage finally has its target.

The person she considered as her closest family member, her older sister with whom she shared a lot of happy moments and hardships… betrayed her.

Her sister wants something that belongs to her.

Something that Mireth already considered sacred and untouchable.

Her man.

Her fated bond.

Her love.

Mireth can't believe this is actually happening, but the evidence is right here.

Each time she senses his scent on her sister, Mireth inwardly trembled.

'Just what were you doing with him behind my back?'

Mireth recalled how she forced Vincent into intimacy with her blood sacrifice.

But she was in a desperate situation. She had to do it and moreover, Vincent understood it and even forgave her.

He was her fated man after all. They understand each other.

But her sister… she doesn't have such reasoning to target him.

It was simple jealousy, nothing more.

She wants to take away her happiness, her future.

This is… unforgivable.

Just how could she do this to her?

"Mireth, you misund-" her sister was frightened and tried to explain something.

But Mireth gently interrupted her midway and walked towards her, "You know… I understand you. Don't worry, I'm not angry."

"Let's… talk about this. We're sisters after all. What do you think?"

Mireth walked closer with a gentle smile on her face.

Her sister was lost for words.

Seeing her sister approaching, she suddenly started to feel existential fear towards her.

She unconsciously took a step back.

Mireth chuckled when she saw it.

It was another confirmation of her betrayal.

Why is her sister scared of her if she's innocent?

Because she's not.

Mireth's smiling expression slightly darkened as she smelled his scent on her once again.

Arriving beside her, Mireth gently placed her hand on her sister's shoulder.

"Let's go home and talk this out. There's nothing that us sisters can't solve," she spoke with a smile.

Her sister looked at Mireth and hesitantly nodded. The fear towards her younger sister and being unable to refuse her claims made her submissive.

The two of them slowly walked on the empty road side by side.

There were only two of them at the moment.

"..." Neither of the two talked. Only their steps and calm night forest could be heard.

As they walked, Mireth's sister suddenly noticed something odd.

They weren't going to either of their homes.

Moreover… Mireth slightly slowed down to walk behind her.

Her heart trembled.

She wanted to look back, but was afraid of what she might see. But she could still hear Mireth's footsteps behind her.

As the two of them walked, Mireth's sister failed to notice something.

Something very important.

They just left the protective barrier that surrounds their settlement and went outside.

Mireth's sister was unable to remain calm anymore and slowly turned around.

"..."

Her body shook.

There was only night forest meanwhile… Mireth was gone.

She wanted to go back, but she knew how the barrier worked. It distorts the perception of everyone entering it, leading you into a completely different direction and unless you get the acceptance of Sacred Tree or are with someone with it… it's almost impossible to go back.

Mireth's sister wasn't yet accepted by the Sacred Red Maple.

She was all alone now.

Realising it, horror started to build in her heart.

Suddenly, something behind her snapped and she hastily turned back.

She gulped and calmed down a bit.

It was just a one-horned rabbit.

The rabbit cutely gazed at her with its eyes before jumping away.

Mireth's sister exhaled with relief.

"Ahh!" She suddenly screamed in pain as she accidentally cut her skin to the broken branch.

Blood started flowing down on her palm.

A calm night breeze flowed past her, making her long silver hair dance.

She ripped part of her robe to bandage the wound.

After she stopped bleeding, she tried to remember something about this forest that might help her somehow to get out of this situation.

Woooo~

Hearing this distant howl, her body froze in place.

For a moment she was unable to understand what's coming and after she finally realised it, terror seeped into her heart.

Inside the elvish settlement, Mireth walked through the empty road.

Mireth understood what she just did and yet, there was no remorse or guilt.

She stopped being her sister after she tried to take what belonged to her.

Mireth would protect her new life no matter the cost.

Vincent belongs to her and no one will take him away from her.

Even if she will be casted out from elvish settlement for what she did, Mireth simply did not care as long as Vincent would be beside her.

Everything she does is for him… for them.

Thinking about him, her eyes slightly glowed in fanatical light.

She wants him right now like never before.

Mireth suddenly stopped and went towards her sister's house.

Her sister knew where he was but refused to tell her.

It must be her house.

She seduced him and tried to take him for herself. But Mireth completely believed that Vincent had not betrayed her.

Her sister, most likely just used her blood to cloud his mind and after he refused her seduction, she locked him in her house.

This is what happened.

The more Mireth thought about it, the more convinced she became that this was the case.

Mireth hastened her pace.

She will save him and they will share an incredible night together.

Mireth's fragile body trembled in anticipation from just thinking about it.

Several minutes later, Mireth stood in front of a certain tall tree.

She looked up at the wooden house on the top.

It was her sister's home.

'He must be there, helpless, waiting for me to save him…'

Thinking of how he would reward her, Mireth hastily went up through the swirled staircase.

Mireth stood in front of the familiar door.

But imagining him there, inside the house of another woman, rage slowly started to build up within her.

But she calmed down.

The issue with her sister is resolved.

She will not aim at their happiness anymore.

Mireth smiled brightly and was about to push the door open but suddenly stopped.

She noticed something down below.

Something was under the door and it was slowly flowing outside from within the house.

The liquid gradually reached Mireth's foot.

At first, Mireth was confused but after she knew what it was, she almost fainted on the spot.

It was blood.
