Urdon Pov
I pushed myself off the floor. My knees popped and my ribs felt like they were being rubbed with sandpaper, but I stood up. Viktor was walking toward Freda with his axe raised. He looked like he was taking a stroll in the park, and that made my blood boil. I did not think about the hunger or the weeks I had spent lying in a dark room. I just pulled the air into my lungs and let the shift happen.
It hurt. Shifting when you are starving always hurts more because there is no fat to burn, just muscle and bone. I heard my joints snap and my skin stretch until it felt like it would rip. I growled, and the sound was deep and gravelly. I was not as big as I used to be, but I was still an Alpha.
"Freda, get down!" I barked. My voice was different in this form, more of a rumble.
