Three weeks into Duskfall and Aelara had started doing laundry on Wednesdays.
Not because Wednesdays had any particular laundry-related advantage over other days.
Because doing laundry required carrying water from the well, which required walking through the common area, which was where people gathered in the mid-morning and where the information that mattered in a settlement of forty-three moved between people doing other things while appearing to do them. She had learned this in the first week and had organized her week accordingly, the way she organized everything around what was useful, not what was comfortable.
