Seraphine did not train Lyra the way she trained most things.
She did not set a time for it. She did not have a room or a space designated or a sequence of exercises that followed each other in logical order. What she did was show up near Lyra at various points in the day and say things small things, specific things and then leave, and let the things settle, and come back later.
Aelara had noticed this pattern in the first week and had asked about it.
"Her truth-sense works continuously," Seraphine had said. "It doesn't turn off. Training something that doesn't turn off is not like training a skill you can practice and then put down. You work with what's always running. You adjust the signal. You don't change the frequency you help her understand the frequency she already has."
"And Selene," Aelara had said.
