Due to a sudden blizzard, Rowan and Kaelen couldn't go on their date so it was postponed to the next day.
And the next morning, the brutal blizzard finally cleared, leaving behind a crisp, beautifully white landscape under the pale blue sky.
Kaelen was waiting near the side courtyard right after breakfast, waiting for Rowan.
He had shed his heavy, intimidating armor, wearing instead a simpler, durable dark leather tunic, high boots, and a thick woolen cloak that made him look remarkably approachable.
When Rowan stepped out, he was wearing Kaelen's massive fur mantle from the day before, practically swallowed by the fabric.
Kaelen turned, a relaxed grin breaking across his face as he tapped the stone railing. "Look at you. You actually slept. The eye bags are still there, secretary, but at least your legs aren't shaking today."
