Chapter 341 - Chapter 341: Kushina Temporarily Refuses Resurrection

"Mhm," Rin responded softly.

Actually, Rin had felt the physical sensation the very instant Makoto completed the final piece of the puzzle.

Contrary to their previous theories, the transition from an Edo Tensei vessel to a truly resurrected, living body was not a gradual process.

The exact moment the last piece was completed, it was like the final brushstroke that brings a masterpiece to life—in an instant, it violently shattered the boundary between life and death.

This speed of recovery was arguably even faster than the legendary Rinne Rebirth.

In the original timeline, when Uchiha Madara was revived through the Rinnegan, it was fast, but there was still a definitive process to it.

Madara could be laughing maniacally one moment, then suddenly realize his Edo Tensei eyes had crumbled to dust the next.

But Makoto's genesis method was fundamentally different.

Rin had truly been revived in a single instant, and just like with Rinne Rebirth, she returned in her prime rather than a weakened state.

The point of all this was simply to clarify that Rin had already regained full physical sensation while Makoto's hand was still right there.

She was just gentle and thoughtful enough not to scream or make things weird.

Only when Kushina rushed over to ask did she act as though she had only just recovered.

"Here." Nonou Yakushi, wearing her crisp white lab coat, handed Rin a clean towel.

Rin climbed out of the cultivation pod, wiped the glowing nutrient fluid off her new skin, and quickly got dressed.

"Huh? Is the Three-Tails still there?" Rin suddenly thought of a major issue and instinctively touched her stomach.

She had logically assumed that after changing bodies, the Tailed Beast would need to be resealed.

"The communication between a Jinchūriki and a Tailed Beast takes place entirely within the mental space. That alone proves their relationship isn't a seal in the conventional physical sense," Makoto explained smoothly.

"Oh, right—the Fourth Hokage and the Yin half of the Nine-Tails also prove this. A Tailed Beast's seal is tethered directly to the soul. Therefore, replacing your physical body and bringing you back to life wouldn't affect the Three-Tails' seal in the slightest."

"So that's how it works? I thought they stayed together because of the Reaper Death Seal," Kushina said, scratching her head.

Makoto waved his hand dismissively.

Of course it had nothing to do with the Reaper Death Seal.

The main reason was that the Konoha Crush in this timeline had been altered, so the Third Hokage hadn't used the Reaper Death Seal to rip out the souls of the First and Second Hokage.

Because of that, Makoto had no second example to reference.

When the Third sealed the First and Second in the original timeline, that was a straightforward, intended use of the Reaper Death Seal, so once they were released, they remained independent entities.

But when the Fourth Hokage sealed the Nine-Tails, it wasn't like what the Third did.

Instead of having the Shinigami drag the Nine-Tails' soul directly to the stomach dimension, Minato used the overwhelming suppression of the Reaper to first seal the Nine-Tails into his own body.

Judging from the intricate silver markings on the Fourth's stomach, that was the Eight Trigrams Seal.

The Shinigami looked terrifyingly humanoid, but the fact that Orochimaru could exploit a loophole so easily just by slicing open its stomach and releasing the trapped souls proved that the Shinigami was basically just an NPC.

Or rather, a rigid AI program.

So when the Fourth sealed the Nine-Tails into his own soul, that was a massive bug exploit.

The NPC Shinigami calculated that separately taking away the souls of the Nine-Tails and the Fourth was mathematically no different from taking away the Fourth's soul together with the soul of the Nine-Tails packaged inside him.

The NPC Shinigami basically thought that eating a bowl of noodles with minced meat was fundamentally the same as eating a meat bun, so it allowed the transaction to process.

This logically proved that a Tailed Beast could indeed be bound strictly to a soul.

"Kushina-nee, why don't you come back to life next? Then Naruto won't be parentless anymore," Rin quietly suggested to the red-haired woman.

"Ah?! Th-that… there is no rush!" Kushina stammered, hurriedly waving her hands in a panic.

During the tense time she had been waiting for the surgery to finish, Kushina had naturally pondered her own resurrection.

She understood the terrifying reality now—everyone's anatomical "blueprint" was different.

Makoto now knew how to sculpt a human body, but what he knew was only Rin's specific proportions and formatting.

He couldn't just casually copy and paste that exact physical formatting onto her.

Otherwise, whose body would she actually be walking around in—hers, or Rin's?

In other words, if Kushina wanted to be resurrected perfectly, she would have to endure the exact same grueling, hands-on modeling process Rin had just gone through.

Although Nonou had comforted Rin by saying that in front of a medical ninja, there was no distinction between men and women, the glaring problem was that Makoto wasn't a medical ninja!

"There really is no rush," Makoto agreed, going along with Kushina's obvious hesitation. "I only had to perform this manually because Rin's situation needed to be moved up ahead of schedule. If there is no hurry to revive you, then we can just wait until Orochimaru finishes a few more lines of cloning research before returning to this subject."

"Using the slower method of cultivating each organ and each piece of flesh individually in a lab, then stitching them together to complete the resurrection, would produce the same final result. It is just that those mechanical details still need to be ironed out, and for now, the timeline is unknown."

But Makoto's logical reassurance made Kushina think of another horrifying issue.

If she didn't let Makoto revive her with his genesis power... then Orochimaru would be the one doing it.

Orochimaru.

This was no longer a matter of there being no distinction between men and women in a doctor's eyes—it was that there was no distinction between men and women in the patient's eyes.

Was Orochimaru even biologically male or female anymore?

Having the snake Sannin do it didn't just feel awkward.

It felt incredibly creepy.

And she understood what Makoto meant. The cells Rin had prepared beforehand had all been stored in separate, sterile cultivation tanks.

But because Makoto didn't need custom-made organs and literally shaped everything by hand from start to finish, there was no ethical issue.

If she chose to have Orochimaru help her instead... that would mean somewhere in a dark, humid lab, there would be fleshy pieces of her body "disassembled" and laid out everywhere in jars.

Including all of her organs.

And then more than one person would see them. Various creepy assistants in the laboratory would pass by, change the nutrient fluid, and casually glance at her floating anatomy along the way.

Like they were viewing a bizarre museum exhibit.

Nonou Yakushi was a perfect example.

If it were like that, she could just stroll over and look at Kushina's disassembled parts whenever she wanted!

Compared to that nightmare scenario, it almost seemed vastly better to just bite the bullet and let Makoto handle her resurrection.

But... what would she even do after coming back to life?

Kushina suddenly paused. There wasn't anything she absolutely had to be biologically alive to accomplish.

And now that her Edo Tensei body no longer had to worry about being forcefully dispelled, she had infinite chakra, infinite stamina, would never get tired, and was functionally immortal.

Other than having no physical sensations and being unable to eat delicious ramen, there really weren't any major drawbacks to being a dust zombie.

"You all take your time thinking it over," Makoto said, turning for the heavy metal doors. "Director Nonou, remember to take Rin for a full physical examination and confirm her vitals are stable. I almost forgot—I still have to go see Naruto."

But it wasn't that he had "almost forgotten."

Leaving Naruto hanging in the desert had been a core part of his strategy all along.

He needed to go back and check on the situation.

If Naruto was still keeping up his frantic jerking, then Makoto would just head back to his room, get some sleep, and wait until tomorrow morning before checking again.

"N-Naruto? What is he doing? How is he?"

As soon as Kushina heard her son's name, she instantly tossed her existential resurrection crisis aside and hurried forward, her face etched with maternal concern.

"He is taking flight," Makoto replied simply.

He didn't know whether this technically counted as tattling to a parent, but as an honest, upstanding young man, there was no way he would lie and hide the truth.

"'Taking flight'? What does that mean?" Kushina blinked, utterly baffled.
