Outside the barrier, the entire arena had fallen into a strange state of excitement mixed with disbelief. What had just unfolded on the battlefield had taken only a few minutes, yet it left an impact so overwhelming that even seasoned devils struggled to process it properly. Conversations broke out everywhere, voices filled with shock, admiration, and a hint of unease.
To the people of the Underworld, Arthur no longer resembled a human in the slightest.
Everything about him felt wrong in the most terrifying way possible. His aura carried a suffocating weight that did not belong to any known system of power, his strength crushed opponents effortlessly, and the cold precision with which he dismantled Riser's entire peerage without hesitation or mercy made it clear that he was not someone who fought for show.
Even his appearance, that unnatural blend of beauty and dominance, only reinforced the impression that he stood closer to a high-ranking devil than any ordinary human could ever hope to reach.
"It's incredible," Sona Sitri said calmly as she continued her role as commentator, though even she could not completely hide the subtle tension in her voice. "The human known as Arthur has eliminated Riser Phenex's entire peerage in just a few minutes. The gap in their strength is not something that can be explained through normal standards."
She adjusted her glasses slightly, her sharp gaze fixed on the screen.
"A performance worthy of the boyfriend of the Crimson Princess of Ruin…"
Inside the VIP room, Rias immediately stiffened at that title, her cheeks flushing faintly as she resisted the urge to punch her friend through the screen.
Sona, however, continued without pause.
"Even so, the information we possess regarding Arthur remains extremely limited. That dark energy surrounding him does not resemble demonic power, nor does it align with any known magical system. If anything, it appears to directly oppose magic itself, completely negating attacks upon contact."
A brief silence followed her words.
Rias's parents, who had initially approached this match with cautious expectations, were now visibly shaken. They had assumed their daughter's chosen partner would be talented, perhaps even exceptional, but what they were witnessing far exceeded anything they had anticipated.
Zeoticus was the first to react.
His earlier skepticism vanished completely, replaced by an expression of pride that he did not even attempt to hide.
"As expected of my future son-in-law," he declared with a satisfied nod, his voice filled with approval. "I knew my daughter would never associate herself with someone mediocre. In fact, that boy reminds me quite a bit of myself in my younger days, wouldn't you agree, darling?"
Venelana let out a soft sigh at the sudden shift in his attitude, though the faint smile on her lips betrayed her own satisfaction. Unlike before, her gaze toward Arthur now carried a deeper level of evaluation, one that went beyond simple curiosity.
As a mother, she had already accepted the idea that Rias would choose her own partner, regardless of status or power. However, seeing Arthur's overwhelming strength firsthand brought her a sense of reassurance she had not realized she needed. Strength in their world was not merely a matter of pride; it was protection, survival, and authority.
And Arthur possessed all three.
"Well," she said lightly, her tone returning to its usual teasing warmth, "it seems our daughter has quite the eye for men. Not only is he strong, but he is also… rather captivating, wouldn't you say?"
Her gaze lingered on the screen just a little longer than necessary, amusement dancing in her eyes.
"I can see why so many girls are drawn to him."
Rias immediately narrowed her eyes.
"Mother…"
Venelana simply smiled, completely unbothered.
Nearby, Kiba remained silent, though his expression had grown noticeably more serious. He had experienced Arthur's training firsthand, had endured the pressure and intensity of his methods, but what he saw now was entirely different. This was not controlled instruction or measured sparring. This was raw power, unleashed without restraint, and it forced him to reconsider just how far ahead Arthur truly was.
Koneko, on the other hand, was visibly shaken.
Her small body trembled slightly as she stared at the screen, her instincts as a Nekomata screaming in warning. The presence she felt from Arthur was overwhelming, almost suffocating, and she could not shake the thought that if he ever turned that level of force toward her, she would not even be able to resist.
---
Inside the barrier, none of that noise existed.
Only silence.
Arthur and Riser stood facing each other, the remains of the battlefield scattered around them, fragments of light still fading into nothingness where his peerage had once stood.
Riser's expression was no longer calm.
Anger burned in his eyes, his pride wounded by what he had just witnessed.
Arthur, however, looked completely relaxed.
"I liked your sister," he said casually, as if commenting on something trivial. "So I'll give you one chance. Surrender now, and I'll make sure you don't suffer."
For a moment, there was complete stillness.
Then Riser's aura flared violently.
"You… dare to mock me?" he spat, his voice filled with fury. "I admit you're strong, human… but you cannot defeat me."
Flames erupted around his body, burning brighter with his rising anger, his confidence rebuilding itself upon the one thing he had always relied on.
Immortality.
Riser was not a reckless fighter.
He specialized in endurance, in dragging battles out until his opponent broke, in forcing stronger enemies into a war of attrition that they could never win. No matter how much damage he took, no matter how many times he was struck down, he would always rise again.
And eventually—
His opponent would fall.
In his mind, the outcome was already decided.
"Fine, don't say I didn't give you a chance later."
Arthur didn't wait for a response. His body vanished from where he stood, and before Riser could even process the movement, he was already in front of him.
Arthur's leg rose sharply from below in a precise, explosive motion, carrying immense force that concentrated into a single point of impact.
"Baek Rok."
The kick connected with devastating accuracy, tearing through Riser's jaw and obliterating most of his head along with part of his neck.
The sheer force behind the strike caused the air itself to ripple, and for a brief moment, his body stood there headless before flames erupted violently from within him. In the next instant, a brand-new head formed, perfectly intact, as if nothing had happened.
Riser didn't hesitate this time. He swung his arm forward in anger, attempting to retaliate immediately, but Arthur caught his wrist mid-motion with absolute precision. There was no struggle, no resistance that mattered. A slight twist followed, and the sound of bone snapping echoed clearly as his elbow bent in the wrong direction.
"Damn it…!"
Arthur didn't give him time to recover. His fists moved in a relentless sequence, each strike landing with brutal efficiency. Punch after punch slammed into Riser's chest, tearing through flesh and bone alike, leaving open holes in his body that regenerated instantly through bursts of flame.
The regeneration was perfect, but it only restored his body, not his composure.
"Match Punch… in succession."
Riser's breathing became uneven as he endured the continuous assault, his immortality forcing him to experience every single impact without reprieve. He finally managed to tear his arm free and raised both hands in front of his face, forming a defensive guard, though his movements were already losing their earlier confidence.
Arthur stepped forward without hesitation. A sharp kick struck Riser's face from the side, snapping his head violently, and in the same motion, Arthur's leg hooked around both of his arms, forcibly dragging them down and exposing him completely.
"Guard Breaker."
Riser's pupils shrank in shock, but before he could react, Arthur rotated his entire body, generating immense momentum through a clean pivot.
"Hoechook."
The spinning hook kick landed with crushing force, sending Riser's body flying across the battlefield as though all structure within him had collapsed. His ribs shattered under the impact, and the sensation of his entire body breaking apart overwhelmed his senses, even as flames began repairing the damage.
Arthur had already moved.
Using Shunpo, he appeared directly along the trajectory of Riser's flight, positioning himself perfectly before raising his knee in a precise upward motion.
"Baek Rok."
The knee strike intercepted Riser mid-air, canceling his momentum entirely before launching him downward with overwhelming force. Arthur continued seamlessly, his movements accelerating further as his legs blurred.
"Hwechook."
The speed of his strikes created the illusion of multiple bodies moving at once. One kick struck Riser's cheek, another shattered his jaw, and the third slammed into the back of his skull, each blow landing before the previous one had fully registered.
Riser's body crashed into the ground, his mind spinning as his senses struggled to keep up with the relentless assault. Flames erupted again, restoring him completely, and he immediately forced distance by leaping into the air, his phoenix wings spreading wide as he hovered above.
"Take this!!!"
His flames surged violently, merging with compressed air as he formed a spiraling vortex of fire. The resulting tornado descended toward Arthur, twisting with destructive force and engulfing the surrounding area in intense heat.
Arthur remained completely still.
He shifted his stance slightly, grounding himself before moving his leg.
"Blue Dragon's Kick."
The motion generated a massive whirlwind that surged forward like a living force, the pressure shaping itself into the faint outline of a dragon formed from compressed air and raw power. The fire tornado collapsed instantly upon contact, torn apart and scattered as if it had never existed, unable to withstand the overwhelming force behind the technique.
Arthur's gaze sharpened.
He raised his hand slightly.
"Ruler's Authority."
The space around Riser distorted subtly as an invisible force took hold of him. His body faltered mid-air, his movements slowing unnaturally as if something far greater than him had seized control of the environment itself. It wasn't complete paralysis, but it was enough. His instincts screamed, his power resisted, but the suppression was absolute in its intent.
Arthur moved again.
He appeared beside him instantly and delivered two precise kicks aimed directly at his head, each strike landing before Riser could properly defend himself. The impact sent him crashing back into the ground, his head shattered once more as flames began to reconstruct him.
But this time, Arthur did not step back.
A dark fog began to spread from his body, thick and suffocating, consuming the surrounding space. Anti-Magic expanded outward, disrupting everything it touched, the cameras flickering violently as the energy interfered with their function.
Arthur had prepared for this moment.
He had analyzed the Phenex immortality.
And he had found a way.
It wasn't perfect.
It consumed too much power.
It was incomplete.
But it worked.
Slowly, deliberately, Arthur raised his hands and formed a precise finger seal, one that carried meaning beyond this world. His posture, his presence, even his expression resembled something far greater than a mere fighter standing on a battlefield.
"Domain Expansion…"
His voice remained calm, steady, absolute.
"Unlimited Void."
Ryōiki Tenkai: Muryōkūsho [無量空処]
The world changed.
Not gradually.
Instantly.
The black mist erupted outward and swallowed everything in its path, erasing the battlefield, the academy, even the sky itself. The familiars recording the match collapsed under the pressure, unable to sustain their existence within the domain, forcing the control room to deploy new ones at extreme distances.
Inside the domain, reality itself warped.
The environment transformed into an infinite, surreal expanse resembling the deepest reaches of space, where darkness stretched endlessly in every direction. The sky became a bottomless void, layered with faint traces of distant light, like dying stars flickering at the edge of perception. At the center of it all, an overwhelming presence loomed, like a singularity that distorted everything around it.
Riser stood there.
His body felt heavy.
Unnaturally so.
His demonic power was still within him, but it no longer responded properly. It refused to reinforce him, refused to enhance his physical abilities, as if something fundamental had been severed.
A sudden movement broke his thoughts.
Arthur.
A fist approached at terrifying speed.
The impact sent him flying backward, his body crashing into the invisible ground as pain exploded through him. He struggled to stand, his movements clumsy, disoriented, his senses overwhelmed by the unnatural space surrounding him.
He waited.
For the flames.
For the regeneration.
For the certainty that had always saved him.
But nothing came.
The pain remained.
Sharp.
Real.
Unrelenting.
A warm liquid flowed from his nose, dripping slowly.
Riser froze.
His hand trembled as he brought it to his face.
Blood.
For the first time in his life—
Riser Phenex tasted his own blood.
And in that moment, something inside him broke.
His immortality…
Had been sealed.
