THE WEIGHT OF POWER
Selene's POV
The sun was too bright.
I squinted against it, my head pounding with every ray of light that hit my eyes.
My body felt like I'd been trampled by a stampeding herd—which, considering I'd used the Alpha command on over fifty wolves yesterday, wasn't far from the truth.
"Drink this."
A cup appeared in front of my face. I looked up to find Vera standing beside the bed, concern etched across her features.
"What is it?"
My voice came out scratchy, barely above a whisper.
"Electrolyte mixture. Draven's orders. Says you burned through your body's resources yesterday."
She pressed the cup into my hands.
"Also says if you don't drink it, he'll come up here and pour it down your throat himself."
Despite everything, I smiled weakly.
"That does sound like him."
The liquid tasted awful—like salt water mixed with bitter herbs—but I forced it down anyway.
"How long was I out?"
I asked
"Sixteen hours. It's almost noon."
