Selene's POV
I brought the message to Damon.
Not because I needed him to make the decision — I had already made it, somewhere between reading Marcus's words the first time and the second time, the conclusion arriving with the quiet certainty of something that had been obvious from the moment the situation presented itself. But decisions of this weight needed to be shared, not out of doubt but out of the understanding that partnership meant bringing your certainties to someone else before acting on them.
He read the message standing at the tactical table.
Read it again.
Set it down.
"He came to us," Damon said.
"He came to me specifically." I leaned against the table edge, watching his face work through it. "He knows I've been looking. Which means he's been watching, or someone in his orbit has been passing him information about what's been happening here."
