"What…" Yeara stared at it, turning the letter over to the other side—but it was still blank. Had this been a mistake? Her eyes scanned the envelope as she pondered deeply. She sighed softly. Maybe it had been a mistake after all.
She folded it gently and slipped it back into the envelope before dropping it onto the bed, scolding herself silently. Why had she even gotten so excited about Zalthor sending her letters?
"Get yourself back together," she screamed inside her head.
Walking downstairs, Yeara drew in a few deep breaths, reminding herself that she need not worry—things were different now that Zalthor was absent.
Yet, there was something about that letter that unsettled her, though perhaps she was merely overthinking. She moved toward the door, where the guards awaited. As she approached, they silently opened it, allowing her to step inside.
