The old guesthouse, "Damsae," stood quietly in the misty dawn. Jung-hwan, a young nobleman, arrived unexpectedly at Damsae, seeking shelter for the night.
Jung-hwan dismounted his horse and approached the door. He knocked softly.
Sang-hee (opening the door slightly): "Who is it?"
Jung-hwan: "A traveler, needing a room for the night."
Sang-hee: "We aren't taking guests."
Jung-hwan: "Please, it's urgent. I'll pay double."
Sang-hee hesitated, then opened the door wider. "Alright. Come in."
Jung-hwan entered. Sang-hee led him to a room.
Sang-hee: "You'll stay here. Food's in the kitchen if you need."
Jung-hwan: "Thanks. How much?"
Sang-hee: "Tell the owner tomorrow."
Sang-hee left. Jung-hwan looked around...
Jung-hwan explored the room, noting the old wooden furniture and faint scent of herbs. He washed his face in the basin, tired from travel.
Downstairs, Sang-hee prepared dinner. The owner, Madame Jo, entered the kitchen.
Madame Jo: "Who's the guest?"
Sang-hee: "A nobleman. Needed a room urgently."
Madame Jo: "Did he pay?"
Sang-hee: "Said to tell you tomorrow."
Madame Jo nodded. "Watch him, Sang-hee."
Jung-hwan entered the kitchen, smelling food.
Jung-hwan: "May I eat here?"
Sang-hee: "Sure. Eat with us."
Jung-hwan joined them. Dinner was simple but tasty.
Jung-hwan: "Thanks for the food. I'm Jung-hwan."
Sang-hee: "I'm Sang-hee. This is Madame Jo."
Madame Jo smiled curtly. "Eat well, Jung-hwan."
Jung-hwan ate with Sang-hee and Madame Jo. The food was simple but flavorful. They exchanged small talk.
Madame Jo: "So, Jung-hwan. What brings you here?"
Jung-hwan: "Traveling for business. Needed a place to rest."
Sang-hee: "Business? What kind?"
Jung-hwan smiled. "Trade. Textiles."
After dinner, Sang-hee showed Jung-hwan to his room.
Sang-hee: "Need anything?"
Jung-hwan: "No, thanks. Sleep well."
Sang-hee smiled and left.
Jung-hwan lay down, thinking about Damsae's odd vibe...
Late night. Jung-hwan woke to whispers outside. He listened.
Sang-hee (whispering): "Madame, are you sure about him?"
Madame Jo: "Ssh. Watch him. We can'"Ssh. Watch him. We can't trust easily.""
Jung-hwan frowned. What were they talking about?
He heard footsteps leave. Silence.
Jung-hwan slept fitfully...

Sang-hee: "Watering plants. Damsae has a lot of herbs."
Jung-hwan: "Herbs? For medicine?"
Sang-hee nodded. "Yes. Madame Jo knows a lot about them."
Madame Jo called from inside. "Sang-hee, need help inside."
Sang-hee: "Coming, Madame."
Sang-hee left Jung-hwan in the garden. He looked around curiously.
Jung-hwan: (to himself) "Damsae feels... different."
Jung-hwan entered the kitchen. Madame Jo was making tea.
Madame Jo: "Morning, Jung-hwan. Tea?"
Jung-hwan: "Thanks."
Madame Jo poured a cup. "Damsae isn't usually for noblemen. Why stay here?"
Jung-hwan: "Needed a quiet place."

Sang-hee: "This is the market. We get supplies here."
Jung-hwan browsed stalls. Sang-hee stopped at a cloth stall.
Sang-hee: "Like this fabric?"
Jung-hwan: "It's nice. For you?"
Sang-hee blushed. "Maybe."
