The rain hammered against the street, curtains of water blurring the road and buildings. Maï sat against the cold, wet ground behind the school building. Her brown hair clinging to her skin. In front of her stood a few students, each looking at her with contempt.
Their laughter echoed in her ears like a nightmare. One of them had her bag and emptied it, letting her furniture and phone fall down. He took one of her notebooks and started looking through the pages. "Oh, you really are a good student, huh?" he said sneering while the others snickered. He started to tear off the pages and throw them away in the rain, but she just lowered her head with no further reaction.
He raised an eyebrow mockingly. "No reaction? Trying to play it cool?" One girl picked up her phone with a disgusted expression. "What is this? It's so ugly, just like you," she said, turning it on and starting to explore it while others laughed at her and marched on her stuff. "Wow, so like reading stupid, unrealistic kid stories?" she said in an amused tone, which made others burst out laughing "Bet she imagines being the hero in one of those worlds!" another said while laughing.
At that moment her throat tightened as she tried to hold in her emotions. "So pathetic," the girl said, smirking, before throwing the phone harshly towards Maï, hitting her on the head before crashing on the wet ground. "Let's leave before she starts crying," a boy said, walking away, and then the others followed, leaving her alone, hurt under the cold rain.
She collected her wet, scattered furniture and put it in her soaked and dirty bag before walking away. Leaving the school, she started running in the streets; the rain increased and became louder, almost completely blurring her vision. "Why can't this life end...?" she asked herself as tears began streaming from her eyes.
She stopped next a building, wanting a moment of peace "if only i could escpe" she whispered to herself, but suddenly a heavy ceramic pottipped, teepered and fell.
Maï looked up watching it falling right above her and couldn't move... or didn't wanted to.
"..Am I... Free?" she asked her self, then world turned black.
