Chapter 142 - Chapter 142: I Am Your Father

As a dark purple rash rapidly spread across Danzo's face, Minato let out a derisive laugh.

In the blink of an eye, the Nano-Sized Venomous Insects had completely devoured Danzo.

The next moment, a cold glint flashed from behind Minato.

Danzo materialized behind him, a kunai aimed at Minato's neck!

Thwack!

Minato raised his hand, and Danzo's arm was severed with a clean cut, the hand holding the kunai flying high into the air.

Enduring the excruciating pain, Danzo finally noticed the Light Sword materializing in Minato's hand.

Damn it! What kind of ninjutsu is this?!

Another flash of golden light, and Danzo's head soared into the air.

Minato, losing interest in this drawn-out confrontation, flashed into the sky. Crossing his arms, he unleashed a dazzling radiance from his palms.

"Yasakani no Magatama!"

His voice thundered as countless luminous projectiles rained down upon the crowd like a torrential shower.

"Watch out! Disperse quickly!" a Nara Clan ninja shouted.

A smirk curled Minato's lips. "Disperse? I'm afraid you won't be able to dodge this—"

Boom! Boom! Boom!

In an instant, the Root Base transformed into a human inferno.

The cacophony of explosions and screams filled the air, relentless and deafening.

The newly revived Danzo was caught in the crossfire and was forced to use another Resurrection Coin.

After a while, the explosions subsided, leaving the ground littered with severed limbs and severely injured bodies.

Seeing that most of the Root members were dead, Minato refrained from finishing them off completely. His primary focus remained on Danzo.

Danzo, revived once more, panted heavily as he stared at Minato, his heart racing with unease.

He had never seen this world's Minato use such a technique before. This Minato clearly possessed more than just the Flying Thunder God Technique.

"Wait, wait a moment—" Danzo raised his hand, his expression pleading. "You've misunderstood. I didn't summon you here to create conflict."

"Ridiculous. Do you think I don't know what kind of person you are, Shimura Danzo?" Minato scoffed. "All you ever do is scheme and manipulate. Did you forget that I killed you once before, when you were just five years old?"

Danzo's pupils constricted sharply at these words.

So that's how it was. No wonder this man knew Izanagi.

"Enough. We've met before, after all. Consider this a courtesy: end yourself now."

Minato tilted his chin, his contempt palpable.

Danzo's face twitched. This Minato was utterly impolite.

Though they shared the same name, the Minato of this world would never utter such biting words, even to an enemy. He would never stoop to verbal insults.

"What? You refuse? After all, I am the Fourth Hokage—" A glimmer of amusement flashed in Minato's eyes. "For a coward like you, who dares not face his enemies head-on but preys on his own comrades, this death is more than an honor—it's a privilege."

As the words hung in the air, Danzo's body stiffened. His remaining left eye widened in fury, as if struck at his core, instantly bloodshot.

"What did you say?" Danzo snarled. "Nonsense! You damned brat, you—"

Thud!

Minato descended from the sky, crushing Danzo's head into his chest with a single kick.

In an instant, Danzo was revived once more.

Yet he hesitated to attack Minato. Perhaps the power gap was too vast; he had already abandoned any hope of defeating him. Instead, he raged hysterically, "Who told you that? Was it Hiruzen?"

Minato was momentarily speechless.

Even now, you're still worrying about Hiruzen?

Konoha-style bonds... truly terrifying.

Watching Danzo's frenzied state, Minato silently raised his hand, the tips of his fingers bursting with blinding light.

A few minutes later, Minato flew out of the Root Base with hands clasped behind his back, as light as a feather.

He slowly raised his head and looked in a certain direction.

Meanwhile, in the conference room of the Hokage Building, Sarutobi Hiruzen and two advisors watched Minato's gaze through the crystal ball, a chill running down their spines.

"I've changed my mind," Minato said calmly. "Reveal Uzumaki Naruto's identity before dawn, or everyone dies—including your clans."

Sarutobi Hiruzen's expression darkened, while a flicker of shock and anger flashed in Utatane Koharu's eyes. She was about to protest when Mitokado Homura pressed a hand against her arm.

"Homura, you—"

"Danzo is dead," Homura said gravely, cutting her off. "Judging by this, he single-handedly wiped out the entire Root. Are you sure you want to provoke such a being? Especially when he wields the Flying Thunder God Technique? We have no choice."

"Homura is right," Hiruzen sighed. "Let this matter rest for now. We'll revisit it when Jiraiya returns."

Utatane Koharu fell silent for a moment before finally exhaling wearily.

Mitokado Homura was right. They had provoked the enemy first, and the fact that the enemy hadn't stormed in to annihilate them showed remarkable restraint.

"Let's go check on Root."

Having finished spying on Minato, Sarutobi Hiruzen put away the Crystal Ball and left the room.

If everything went as expected, his old friend should be thoroughly dead by now.

Meanwhile, Minato had arrived at Naruto's house and rang the doorbell.

Soon, hurried footsteps echoed from inside. Naruto rushed to open the door, barefoot.

"Minato? What brings you here?"

"I don't have anywhere else to go for the time being. Could I stay here for a few days?" Minato asked with a gentle smile.

"Of course!"

Naruto's eyes lit up.

Minato stepped inside, taking in the messy room. The kitchen sink overflowed with dishes and pots, while the table was cluttered with instant ramen cups—some opened, some unopened—alongside a hot water kettle and half-empty milk cartons.

He glanced into the bedroom, where cultivation scrolls, clothes, and miscellaneous items were strewn across the floor, and the quilt on the bed was in disarray.

Naruto scratched his head and chuckled awkwardly. "Heh heh—sorry about the mess. I haven't been keeping up with things while I'm home alone. Give me a minute—I'll tidy up right away."

"Let me handle it."

Minato shook his head, not bothering to create a clone. He calmly began tidying up.

Although Naruto was merely his son from a parallel world, seeing how he couldn't take care of himself stirred mixed emotions in Minato.

Naruto watched Minato cleaning the room, a strange feeling flowing through his heart.

He recalled their earlier conversation, and suddenly, a realization struck him.

"Um... Minato, you mentioned knowing my mother? Do you know my father too?"

Minato, who was washing the dishes, paused slightly. He turned to look at Naruto, a gentle smile playing on his lips.

"Strictly speaking, I know the version of your mother from my world. As I mentioned before, I'm from a parallel timeline. Our worlds are like mirror images, following similar paths."

"For example, in my world, Namikaze Minato and Uzumaki Kushina were a couple, just as in this world, Kushina married the Fourth Hokage—Namikaze Minato."

Minato's voice softened. "So, in a certain sense, I am your father."
