Chapter 61 - Before the Silence

The world was changing faster than anyone could control.

Cities reinforced their defenses.

Borders tightened.

Skies filled with surveillance drones.

Everywhere Fear.

Screens across the globe repeated the same message:

"ALL CITIZENS: REPORT ANY SIGHTINGS OF SIGNIFICANTS IMMEDIATELY."

But something else had changed too.

People weren't just afraid anymore.

They were… divided.

Some saw the twins as monsters.

Others…

As the only ones strong enough to fight the system.

In hidden corners of the world Graffiti appeared.

A symbol.

Two halves.

Light and darkness.

Back at the Resistance outpost…

Juvy stood in front of the remaining fighters.

Now more than before.

Survivors had started returning.

Word had spread.

Mara leaned against a wall.

"Looks like you've got a following now."

Juvy shook her head.

"I don't want followers."

Eli smiled slightly.

"Too late."

Juvy looked at the people in front of her.

Injured.

Tired.

But hopeful.

That scared her more than anything.

"I'm not a hero," she said.

Her voice steady.

"I can't promise I'll win."

The room stayed silent.

"But I won't run anymore."

Her light flickered gently.

Controlled.

Focused.

"If we fight…"

Her eyes hardened.

"…we fight for each other."

The group nodded.

Not loudly.

Not dramatically.

But with understanding.

This wasn't an army.

It was something else.

Far away…

Maxruell stood on top of a collapsed skyscraper.

The wind howled through the ruins.

Below him—

A city trying to rebuild.

People moving carefully.

Fear still in their eyes.

He watched them silently.

Then—

A group of armed men tried to raid a supply convoy.

Gunfire echoed.

Civilians screamed.

Maxruell moved.

Shadows dropped him into the middle of it.

Fast.

Silent.

Within seconds—

The attackers were gone.

Crushed.

Broken.

Defeated.

The civilians stared at him.

One of them spoke carefully:

"…Thank you."

Maxruell didn't respond.

He turned away.

"Wait," the man said.

"Are you… protecting us?"

Maxruell paused.

Just for a second.

"…No."

He vanished into the shadows again.

Leaving them confused.

High above the world…

Mother Cain stood alone again.

Looking down at everything.

Serah approached.

"The world is reacting faster than expected."

Cain nodded.

"They've seen enough."

She tapped the display.

Images of both twins appeared.

Separate.

Growing.

Changing.

"They're evolving."

Serah crossed her arms.

"And when they reach their peak?"

Cain's voice softened slightly.

"Then the world ends."

Silence.

"But before that…"

She looked at both images.

"…they will face each other."

Back on Earth…

Night fell again.

Juvy stood outside the outpost.

Looking at the stars.

"…Max."

Far away…

Maxruell stood alone in the ruins.

Looking at the same sky.

"…Juvy."

They didn't know when.

They didn't know how.

But both of them felt it.

That the next time they met—

Everything would change.

The wind carried the silence of something coming.

Something inevitable.

And for a brief moment…

The world was quiet.
