Chapter 98 - Divided Field

The battlefield chose sides.

Not by command.

Not by force.

By resonance.

— The Split —

Fragments that once moved as one—

Now hesitated.

Some drifted toward the Vessel.

Others… hovered.

Uncertain.

Juvy stepped forward slowly.

Her light didn't flare.

It called.

"…You don't have to follow it," she said.

Her voice wasn't loud.

But it carried.

Lina stood beside her.

Light steady.

"…You can choose," Lina added softly.

— Response —

A few fragments shifted.

Moved closer to Juvy.

Then more.

Not all.

But enough to matter.

Behind them—

Some fragment users blinked.

Awareness returning.

"…What… happened…?" one muttered.

The pull weakened.

Not gone.

But broken.

— The Vessel's Side —

At the center—

The Vessel didn't move.

But the fragments around it tightened.

More organized.

More controlled.

Those still bound to it—

Stood rigid.

Eyes empty.

"…fragment deviation…"

"…correction required…"

— The Divide Becomes War —

The space between them—

Shifted.

Not empty anymore.

A boundary.

Juvy's side—

Unstable.

But alive.

The Vessel's side—

Stable.

But controlled.

Maxruell stepped forward.

Looking across the divide.

"…So that's how it is."

A faint smirk.

"…Good."

— First Clash of Sides —

Without warning—

A fragment user from the Vessel's side lunged forward.

Fast.

Precise.

Not chaotic like before.

Controlled.

Juvy reacted—

Light shifting—

Deflecting the attack.

Another followed.

Then another.

A wave.

— Juvy Leads —

"…Don't fight them head-on!" Juvy called.

"…Guide them!"

She moved—

Redirecting attacks.

Not destroying.

Stabilizing.

— Maxruell's Approach —

Maxruell didn't follow her method exactly.

He stepped forward—

Intercepted an attacker—

And struck.

Clean.

Decisive.

"…Or just take them down," he muttered.

But even then—

His strikes avoided killing blows.

Not mercy.

Efficiency.

— Kael Observes —

From behind—

Kael watched the field.

"…Two philosophies…"

"…Both working."

He extended his influence again.

Keeping the space from collapsing.

"…Good."

— The Vessel Responds —

The Vessel raised its hand.

Its side of the field—

Shifted instantly.

Formations changed.

Attacks synchronized.

No hesitation.

"…optimize…"

— Escalation —

The clash intensified.

Fragments collided mid-air.

Light and shadow intertwined.

Juvy moved faster.

Her control improving.

Maxruell adapted.

Sharper.

More precise.

They weren't just reacting anymore.

They were leading.

More fragment users broke free.

Stepping back.

Regaining awareness.

The balance shifted.

Not fully.

But enough.

The Vessel lowered its hand.

Watching.

Its gaze moved across the battlefield.

Then settled on Juvy and Maxruell.

"…division increases instability…"

A pause.

"…instability leads to collapse…"

Its voice deepened slightly.

"…collapse leads to nothing…"

Juvy stepped forward.

"…Then we'll build something new."

Maxruell stood beside her.

"…Something better."

The battlefield didn't calm.

It evolved.
