Chapter 118 - Echoes of the Vessel

Silence covered Ground Zero.

Not peace.

Shock.

— After the Sacrifice —

The fragments of the destroyed Vessel drifted slowly through the ruined battlefield.

Like dying stars.

Tiny lights falling through broken reality.

No one spoke at first.

Because no one expected it.

The being created to erase individuality—

Had sacrificed itself to protect it.

— The Wave Has Stopped —

The colossal resonance wave remained frozen overhead.

Unstable.

Paused mid-collapse.

Even the Source had stopped advancing.

Its countless eyes shifting slowly within the void.

Watching the fragments of the Vessel scatter across existence.

— Juvy Feels It —

Juvy stepped forward weakly.

Her Balance Resonance reacting to the drifting fragments.

"…It's still here…"

Lina looked toward her.

"…What do you mean?"

Juvy closed her eyes briefly.

"…The Vessel…"

"…its will didn't disappear."

Small fragments of light began settling around the battlefield.

Touching broken structures.

Touching people.

Touching unstable reality itself.

And wherever they landed—

Things stabilized.

Cracks in space slowed.

Collapsing fragments calmed.

The battlefield breathed again.

— Kael Understands —

Kael stared upward silently.

"…The Vessel evolved at the very end…"

Maxruell frowned.

"…Evolved?"

Kael nodded slowly.

"…It made a choice independent of its original purpose."

"…That means it became truly individual."

Silence followed.

Above them—

The Source remained still.

No attacks.

No pull.

Only observation.

For the first time—

It seemed uncertain.

— Lina Realizes Something —

Lina looked at the drifting Vessel fragments carefully.

"…They're not forcing balance…"

"…They're supporting it."

Juvy's eyes widened slightly.

The Vessel's sacrifice had changed its fragments too.

Not control.

Coexistence.

— Maxruell Looks Up —

"…So even that thing figured it out before dying."

He smirked faintly.

"…Guess we're contagious."

— The Source Reacts Differently —

Then—

The Source moved again.

But not violently.

The countless eyes within the void slowly closed one by one.

The overwhelming pressure weakened slightly across the world.

Kael stared upward carefully.

"…It's thinking."

Juvy suddenly felt the Source again.

Not as force.

Emotion.

Confusion.

The Source had never understood individuality.

Never understood sacrifice.

Never understood choosing others over self-preservation.

And now—

The Vessel had shown it directly.

— The Remaining Threat —

But despite the pause—

Reality was still unstable.

The gateway above remained open.

The Source was still partially manifested.

If the balance failed again—

Everything could still collapse.

— Kael's Warning —

Kael turned toward Juvy urgently.

"…This isn't over."

Juvy nodded slowly.

"…I know."

Kael looked toward the open void.

"…The Source hesitated…"

"…but hesitation isn't acceptance."

Fragments of the Vessel slowly circled around Juvy now.

Not orbiting her like weapons.

Resonating with her Balance Resonance.

Kael's expression changed slightly.

"…Wait…"

Lina looked toward him.

"…What?"

Kael stared at Juvy in disbelief.

"…The Vessel didn't just sacrifice itself…"

"…It passed its function to her."

Silence.

Juvy froze.

The Vessel had once maintained forced unity.

Now—

Its evolved fragments were merging into Juvy's Balance Resonance.

Giving her the ability to stabilize existence itself.

Without erasing individuality.

Above them—

The Source opened one enormous eye again.

But this time—

It looked directly at Juvy differently.

Not as correction.

Not as enemy.

As possibility.

Then the voice echoed once more across reality:

"…SHOW ME."

The battlefield fell silent.

Because for the first time—

The Source was no longer demanding.

It was asking.
