The firelight from the stove cast a brilliant glow, also making the cerulean hue of the Blue Crabs look even more beautiful. A crab larger than a hand was placed on the wooden cutting board, being skillfully cleaned and prepared by Ewan. After a thorough cleaning, the Blue Crab was divided by Ewan into bite-sized pieces. For the large claws, he asked Asher Ryder to use his strength to crack them open, and then he and Simon deftly pulled the white meat inside out.
When Asher Ryder cracked the shells, Ewan had instructed Asher to score a circle with a knife, to avoid crushing the shell completely. Thanks to this care, the sturdy shell plates cracked open incredibly neatly, preserving the beautiful shape of the claws. Simon beside them also coordinated rhythmically, carefully placing each pristine white piece of exposed meat onto a clean plate.
