"Do you hear someone screaming?"
I glanced at Gawain while we walked deeper into the forest.
"No."
His answer came a little too quickly.
I narrowed my eyes. "You didn't even listen."
"I did."
"Then why did you answer immediately?"
"Experience."
That somehow made less sense.
Eventually, I shrugged and continued walking.
If someone was screaming in the forest, that was their problem.
Not mine.
The deeper we went, the thicker the fog became.
What started as a light mist slowly turned into a white wall that swallowed the trees around us.
Even the sounds of the forest became quieter. Birds, insects, and the distant explosions from students fighting.
Everything sounded muffled.
"Gawain?"
No answer.
I looked to my left.
Empty.
Then to my right.
Empty.
I scratched my head. "Did we get lost?"
Honestly, it wasn't impossible.
Usually, the rival classes did all the hard work of finding and dragging me into their territories.
