Chapter 197 - 197: A Hidden Nuclear Bomb

"Sorry to disappoint you, Eric. Besides whatever sanitary pads that cute Laura might have in her bag, there are no other vampires here."

Wade slid out of the car, blood still pouring from his body. He casually picked up his kidney and shoved it back into his stomach, trusting his healing factor to fix everything properly.

As his body rapidly regenerated, he pushed himself up from the ground and grinned at the others.

"Well, look who it is. Isn't this Daredevil's little girlfriend? How did you end up in the Void too, Elektra?"

"And this one… wait, who are you again? The one with the playing cards. Fox even wanted to give you a solo movie, right? Looking at you now, I guess that didn't happen, and Fox itself is already gone, haha!"

"Shut up, Wade!"

Hearing that, Gambit, Remy LeBeau, flicked out a Joker card with a dark expression. The card struck Wade square in the chest, and his barely restored organs spilled out again.

Wade sighed, crouched down, and began stuffing everything back into place.

While he was still reorganizing himself, Laura stepped forward and stood beside Elektra, her voice cold.

"Be careful of that guy. He killed Cassandra."

"What?"

"What?"

"Cassandra is dead?"

As shock spread through the group, Axel clapped his hands lightly.

"Now that's the reaction I was hoping for. Chasing her across more than thirty universes wasn't a waste after all.

I didn't kill Cassandra myself, but I drove her straight into a gathering of Sorcerer Supremes. They handed her over to the Dimension Lords.

Right now, I'd guess Dormammu and Cyttorak are arguing over what's left of her. Maybe splitting her in half. Who knows which one gets which part?"

"They'll use it as a toilet! That bitch deserved it. You did great!"

Remy nearly dropped to his knees, overcome with emotion. He had waited far too long for this moment.

The others quickly followed, their shock turning into grim satisfaction.

Before long, Johnny and the rest warmly welcomed Axel, bringing out wine and food for a full celebration.

Later that night, around 11:30 PM.

In Gotham City, at Downton Manor.

Selina stood alone in the courtyard, dressed in pajamas with a coat draped over her shoulders. She paced quietly under the moonlight.

After finishing his experiment, Lex Luthor stepped outside to test his newly developed nano leg armor. He noticed Selina immediately.

He studied her for a moment, then walked over with a faint smile.

"Don't worry, Madam Axel. No one can harm him. Axel is one of the greatest anomalies to exist across the multiverse. Even if he travels to another universe, nothing can stop him from coming back.

Right now, he's probably just making new friends."

As he spoke, Lex activated the armor.

He shot into the sky, spinning uncontrollably while shouting at the top of his lungs as he reached over eighty meters in height.

His yelling woke several servants. Lights flickered on across the mansion as people leaned out of windows, staring at him spinning wildly overhead.

Selina exhaled slowly, watching the scene without amusement.

"I've never worried about his safety. Even God couldn't kill him.

But do you think his sudden disappearance is easy for me to accept?"

She glanced once more at Lex before pulling a whip from beneath her coat.

With precise timing, she snapped it forward, wrapping it around his waist just before he crashed. Using the momentum, she swung him twice to slow him down, then gently lowered him to the ground.

Lex groaned as he removed the armor.

"I appreciate that. Even with a force field, I might have broken something.

Recovery would have taken at least half a day, which is a waste of time."

He paused suddenly, eyes widening.

"Wait. Axel is back."

A burst of fire flared in the courtyard as Axel stepped out of it.

Slightly unsteady, he looked around before frowning.

"I aimed for the bedroom. Why am I outside?

Don't tell me you went out stealing planes again. If you did, you should have called me. I would've cheered you on."

Selina walked up to him, catching the strong scent of alcohol.

"If a thief made that much noise, they'd be caught instantly. You've clearly had too much to drink. Where were you?"

She grabbed his coat and pulled him toward the house.

Axel followed with a grin.

"Today was incredible. I went to Deadpool's universe.

You know how insane that place is. Spend enough time there and anyone starts losing their mind.

Still, I made it back in one piece. I even saved a father and daughter. Could've done it faster, but I'll take the win."

He suddenly stopped walking.

Selina tugged at him again, annoyed.

"That's new. You're proud of saving people now? Or was the daughter just beautiful?"

"Hold on. Don't move."

Axel frowned, placing a hand on her shoulder before looking down.

Then, without warning, he slammed himself straight into the ground.

Moments later, he burst back out, holding a massive ticking device weighing nearly half a ton.

He stared at it, slightly disoriented.

"I don't understand this thing. No timer. Can you tell how long we have?"

Selina's expression changed instantly as she stepped closer.

"This isn't a timed bomb. It's remote-controlled.

And based on the size… this looks like a nuclear device."

"What? Then move."

Without hesitation, Axel hurled it into the sky with immense force.

The object streaked upward like a meteor, disappearing into space.

Selina swallowed.

"Is it over?"

"It's handled, but that's not the real issue. Someone planted that in our courtyard. Worse, it was hidden in the Batcave Bruce hasn't even finished setting up."

Axel rubbed his forehead, irritated.

"What exactly is Batman doing? And Deadshot. They've practically invited trouble right to our doorstep."

He turned to Lex.

"Didn't you install a full monitoring system here?"

"I did," Lex replied calmly. "On the first day. Bruce removed it immediately. He doesn't trust being monitored.

I handed the system over to him afterward. If there's a flaw, it would be in his version."

Axel sighed.

"Of course there's a flaw. The Court of Owls knows him better than anyone.

It's not just the system. Bruce himself has too many weaknesses. If someone staged a scene with actors pretending to be his parents, he'd lose control instantly."

He waved his hand dismissively.

"You handle this, Lex. You're from Metropolis. The Court won't predict your moves easily.

I'll deal with Bruce tomorrow."

Axel narrowed his eyes, scanning the city.

After a moment, he located everyone.

Bruce was in the Diamond District, cutting through Talons, with hundreds already down.

Under his protection, Deadshot was moving efficiently, eliminating targets across Gotham. More than half of the list had likely already been cleared.
