I turned sharply at the sound of that voice, my wolf already bristling before my eyes even landed on her.
Hayley stood a few steps away, a glass of red wine dangling loosely in her hand. Her arms were crossed, her posture relaxed—but the look on her face was anything but calm.
It was sharp.
Mocking.
Filled with something ugly that she no longer bothered to hide.
"So," she sneered, tilting her head slightly as her gaze dragged over me, "do you really think I don't see what you're doing?"
I didn't respond immediately. I didn't need to.
My wolf was already alert, watching her carefully, sensing the hostility rolling off her in waves.
"You're trying to clean up your image," she continued, her voice dripping with disdain, "while acting like a third party at the same time. Sneaking around, trying to seduce Elliot behind everyone's back."
Her eyes gleamed with resentment, no longer masked by fake smiles or polite behavior.
Now that we were alone…
