Her lips were too close, soft enough to pull at something buried deep under my Alpha restraint. City lights spilled behind her through the glass like distant pack fire, and for a second, instinct overrode control.
I moved before thought caught up.
In the next breath, I had her pressed against the window of the private dining room, glass cold at her back, my body blocking every escape route. My kiss landed before restraint could form, and something in me tightened—dominance, instinct, and desire colliding too fast.
Her scent shifted instantly.
Warmth. Surprise. Then fear.
Acrophobia.
The height beyond the glass triggered her instincts—her body reacting like she stood at the edge of a cliff. Her breathing broke, sharp and uneven, slicing through my haze.
I should have stepped back immediately.
I didn't.
