The Master Builder looked as though he had aged twenty years in twenty-four hours. He was covered in a fine layer of white plaster dust, his hands trembling as he held the double doors of the Royal Suites open.
"It is... complete, Your Majesties," the builder rasped, bowing so low his nose nearly brushed his dusty boots. "As requested. A complete structural unification."
Aeron stood in the hallway, Kaia's hand tucked firmly into the crook of his arm. He didn't say a word. He simply walked through the doors, pulling Kaia with him into the newly formed space.
Kaia gasped.
The wall that had separated the King's Suite from the Queen's Suite was entirely gone. In its place were three massive, soaring arches supported by pillars of dark, polished mahogany reinforced with steel. The room was now a sprawling, cavernous expanse of unimaginable luxury.
