Just as she was about to leave while holding Aircraft Carrier's hand, Illustrious seemed to think of something and suddenly stopped. She led Aircraft Carrier over to the slave merchant.
Because of the artificial meteor's impact, the slave merchant was still in a coma. Illustrious used her small hands to carefully search the slave merchant's body, seemingly looking for something.
"Ahem! Sister, why are you touching this man? Sister, if we don't leave quickly, they'll wake up soon! Then we'll be captured again!" Aircraft Carrier said anxiously.
"Shh! Don't be so loud, Aircraft Carrier! I'm looking for this fat man's coin purse. Look at how sleek and well-dressed he is; his purse must be full! Ooh! Found it. This guy is so gross, ugh! He actually kept it in his underwear," Illustrious said with some disgust.
She opened the coin purse and found it was full of gold coins, about thirty in total. Illustrious's eyes sparkled with gold coin symbols in excitement. The gold coins used by the five nations were all the same, called Kela Gold Coins, minted by the strongest nation, the Gross Kingdom. Due to the high minting technology and gold content, they were used uniformly by all five nations.
Below the gold coins were silver and copper coins, with a ratio of 1 to 100. Ten silver coins were enough for a poor family to live on for a year, which was why Illustrious was so excited.
With this money, the two sisters, Illustrious and Aircraft Carrier, wouldn't have to worry about their livelihood for the foreseeable future.
As if because Illustrious had been rummaging around, the slave merchant's body twitched, looking as though he was about to wake up.
"Aircraft Carrier, let's run!" After getting the money and tucking it away, Illustrious wanted to leave with Aircraft Carrier.
Just as she was about to tell Aircraft Carrier to run together, she saw that her sister had somehow picked up a dagger. Aircraft Carrier walked slowly to the slave merchant's side, squatted down, covered his mouth with her small hand, and plunged the dagger straight into the merchant's heart.
The dagger instantly sank into the flesh, piercing the slave merchant's heart. Blood sprayed from the wound, splattering directly onto Aircraft Carrier's cold, expressionless face. Paired with her glowing crimson eyes, it was a chilling sight.
The stab caused the sleeping slave merchant to snap his eyes open. He originally wanted to scream, but he hadn't expected his mouth to be covered. Finally, as his blood continued to drain, he died, his eyes, which refused to close in death, glaring fixedly at Aircraft Carrier.
Seeing Aircraft Carrier like this, Illustrious knew her sister's illness was starting to flare up. Aircraft Carrier had been frail and sickly since childhood. Later, their father had asked a close friend to see what kind of illness his daughter had.
The father's friend was a priest in the church and a Recovery Mage by profession. He was quite famous in the town's church, and the townspeople went to him for all their ailments. When he examined Aircraft Carrier, he immediately discovered she suffered from the Demon-fall Curse of the Aircraft Carrier Demon God.
Years ago, the Aircraft Carrier Demon God used many methods to deal with the humans and other races under the creation goddess faction in order to destroy the world. One of those methods was to curse humans with potential, and the Demon-fall Curse was one such curse.
The curse from those years could be inherited, with a chance of being passed down to one's descendants. The Demon-fall Curse causes the person who has it to be frail and sickly, accompanied by heart weakness.
During a flare-up, there is a strong bloodlust. After the age of eighteen, females transform into Succubi, and males transform into Demons. They harbor great hatred for the humans and other races created by the creation goddess and want to kill them upon sight.
Anyone found with this Demon-fall Curse must be handed over to the Creation Church for purification—which means being killed, nipping it in the bud to prevent them from turning into Demons and bringing disaster to the world.
This Demon-fall Curse can be completely cured, but it requires a Sage's Stone to purify. However, a Sage's Stone is far too precious; even the King only possesses one or two.
The Creation Church certainly wouldn't use a Sage's Stone for purification. After all, a Sage's Stone is too valuable; it's much faster and better to just kill them!
Because the priest was a good friend of her father, he decided to keep the secret for him. The priest warned her father that it would be best to find a Sage's Stone to purify the Aircraft Carrier before she turned eighteen, or simply kill her. Otherwise, once the Aircraft Carrier turned into a Succubus, her father's life would be in danger.
After killing the slave merchant, the red glow in the Aircraft Carrier's eyes gradually faded, and her eyes returned to their normal state. Seeing the blood on her hands, she collapsed onto the ground in a duck-sit position, her face filled with terror, utterly panicked by the fact that she had killed someone.
The Aircraft Carrier's whole body began to tremble. She slowly turned her head to look at her sister and said with a stutter,'S-Sister! I... I killed someone.'
The Aircraft Carrier had never killed anyone before! Usually, she was terrified of even stepping on a small bug, let alone killing a person! Now, the Aircraft Carrier was extremely frightened and didn't know what to do.
Just now, for some reason, as soon as she saw the slave merchant about to wake up...
A voice in her heart told the Aircraft Carrier: 'Give your body to me, let me kill him. Otherwise, you and your sister will be caught. Then you will be sold, and once sold, you will be separated, perhaps never to be together again.'
Upon hearing that she wouldn't be able to stay with her sister, the Aircraft Carrier became unwilling. After handing her body over to that voice, her body felt as if it were out of her control, and she killed the slave merchant without even realizing it.
The Aircraft Carrier was now very afraid—afraid of her body being out of control, afraid that one day she might suddenly lose her memory and do something to hurt her sister or even kill her without knowing it. It would be a cruel thing for both herself and her sister.
Seeing the Aircraft Carrier so scared and helpless, Illustrious immediately stepped forward and hugged her, stroking her head and comforting her gently. 'Don't be afraid, Sister is here. Sister will protect you. It's... it's okay, Aircraft Carrier! This guy was a slave merchant who spent his whole life doing bad things. Killing him was the right thing to do. Don't be afraid, and don't feel guilty.'
Hearing her sister say this, the Aircraft Carrier felt it made sense. As her sister continued to stroke and comfort her, the Aircraft Carrier's panicked mood slowly calmed down.
Seeing that the Aircraft Carrier had calmed down, Illustrious finally felt relieved. Looking at her cute younger sister, Illustrious vowed that she would definitely become stronger. Once she became strong and earned enough money, she would find a Sage's Stone to cure the Aircraft Carrier's Demon-fall Curse, so she wouldn't become a Succubus who only knew how to slaughter.
'Alright, let's get out of here quickly! Otherwise, the guards will wake up.' Illustrious reached out her small hand to take the Aircraft Carrier's hand and led her running out of the forest.
The two sisters ran desperately, wanting to get out of the forest and find a village or small town to stay in. Once settled, they would plan for the future.
'Sister! If I do something wrong in the future, will you hate me? Will you not want me anymore? Will you stop being with me?' the Aircraft Carrier whispered to Illustrious as they ran.
