Ashton's grip tightened as his emotions snapped.
Pain shot through me, sharp and sudden, and I frowned hard, trying to push his hand away from my waist. His hold didn't loosen. It only pulled me closer, like he was reacting before he even thought.
My voice came out strained. "If that's all I am to you, an inn you pass through, then don't come back. Sign the divorce papers. We're done."
