"I'm not Ashton's only subordinate," I said calmly, cutting in before she could continue. My eyes stayed steady on hers as I added, "If he has to explain every small detail to everyone, then what's the point of having a team? He might as well do everything himself."
Her expression stiffened.
"But you're his wife!" she insisted.
I let out a soft, almost amused breath and looked at her. "Yes, I am his wife. But that doesn't change anything. In Fuller Corporation, he is the Alpha of the pack, and I am only one of the directors under him. Outside personal ties, we are still rank and responsibility. If I can't handle my work without him guiding every step, then I don't belong here. I might as well stay home and do nothing."
