Mrs. Eriksen moved through the villa with an easy smile, already cleaning and resetting everything like she belonged there. The place felt more settled with her around, but I still kept glancing at Ashton, waiting for his reaction. He didn't say much, just motioned for me to sit and eat like the matter was already decided.
I hesitated, then asked quietly, "Ashton… did you call Mrs. Eriksen here?"
He finished his bite before answering. "Yes. She'll stay here and take care of you."
His tone made it sound final, like there was no space for argument. It made sense, I knew that, especially with how weak I had been lately. But my mind kept drifting elsewhere.
After a few spoonfuls of soup, I couldn't hold it in anymore. "Ashton, Macy is still being held at the pack station. Can you—"
"Eat your food," he cut in immediately.
I stopped. "What?"
