"I'm the owner."
I stepped forward and showed my identity card along with the land title. My voice stayed calm, controlled. "This woman entered my residence without permission. She also damaged several valuable items. I'm requesting your help."
One of the officers took the documents, checked them, then handed them back. "All right, Ms. Stovall. Are you injured anywhere?"
I shook my head.
Rebecca's composure finally cracked. Her eyes burned with anger, her voice rising as she snapped, "You b*tch!"
The officers moved quickly and escorted her out without delay.
When the hall emptied, I stood there for a moment, looking at the broken pieces scattered across the floor. The air still carried the tension of what had just happened, but I only let out a quiet sigh.
I didn't clean it.
I turned and went straight upstairs.
After a shower, I lay down and fell into bed, expecting the night to finally settle.
Not long after, the doorbell rang.
