Ashton looked at me, the corner of his mouth lifting into a slow smirk.
I ignored it and spoke into the phone. "Got it. I'll hang up now." I ended the call and set the phone down on my lap. His eyes were still fixed on me, his expression several shades darker than it had been just a moment before. "What exactly are you planning here, Scarlett? You're getting Louis Stovall involved in all of this right now?"
"I'm planning to..." Divorce you.
The words stopped right in my throat. I still needed him to back off the OrbitTech acquisition, and starting a fight right now would make that completely impossible. I swallowed it down and turned to Jared instead. "Dr. Crest, do you want to eat with us?"
Jared glanced briefly at Ashton's tight expression, and something in his face pulled toward a smile. He nodded. "Sure. I'm actually a bit hungry now."
