"Weren't you the one who called me here? You said you had something urgent, that there was a new assignment coming in from the Moore family." Mr. Tuffin looked past Felix and fixed his eyes on me. "So what exactly is going on right now?"
"I never called you. And I have received nothing from the Moore family about any assignment." Felix shook his head, and for the first time all evening something close to uncertainty crossed his face.
They stared at each other and the realization landed between them almost at the same moment. Something here was clearly very wrong.
Both of them slowly turned toward me. Felix's voice came out low and flat. "Was this you?"
