It began to resemble a wide, elongated shield, an extension of his arm.
Noir began to swing it about, slicing through the streams of fire.
Once he managed to defend against the first attacks, he began to retreat, dragging and shielding his partner.

Even more, the Fool Baals crawled out from under the ground. They were everywhere, crawling out of every part of the burning forest.
On top of that, those they'd managed to escape thanks to Mr. Nobody's gambit were almost upon them.
There was nowhere to run.
