Two blindingly white hands, each over two meters wide and clearly not belonging to the physical dimensions of this world, manifested behind Index. They descended like the wrath of an angel falling to earth.
"Get out of the way! That's an Angel-class spell, not standard Magician's magic!" Kanzaki Kaori shouted in a panic, instantly drawing her Nodachi.
With a flash of steel, she unleashed Nanasen (Seven Heavenly Swords). A massive web of razor-sharp steel wires pierced through the entire room, forming a spider's web as they desperately tried to bind Index.
"If that hits you, even a Saint could be killed instantly!" Kanzaki warned.
"Angelic power... Heh. Who exactly do you think I am?" Yuuya smiled faintly, remaining completely calm as he watched the two massive hands fully materialize and reach for him.
A dazzling light descended instantly, and the immense, crushing pressure locked onto the spatial coordinates where Yuuya was standing. At such close range, it was true that even a Saint would not be able to escape the localized bombardment of Angelic power.
'If this level of raw energy were to be fully unleashed, it could probably destroy an entire school district in Academy City with ease,' Yuuya thought. 'Aleister really is quite relaxed to just sit back in his tube and watch this happen.'
Yuuya casually raised his hand and slapped it forward to meet the massive hands formed by the power of two angels.
Angelic power—Telesma—originating from the power within the higher Phases, was a mythological law completely different from the physical world, operating on a conceptual level far beyond the reach of ordinary Magicians.
If one had to explain it in Science Side terms, then Telesma was conceptually similar to the power of an AIM diffusion field at its absolute peak; only Espers who approached Level 6 could theoretically calculate and control this kind of multidimensional power. Within Academy City, only Suzushina Yuriko in her awakened state, and Misaka Mikoto, if forced into 50% of her Level 6 Shift, were theoretically capable of touching this kind of power.
"We're doomed!"
Kanzaki and Stiyl raised their arms, bracing themselves to block the blinding, destructive light of the Angelic power. They sighed in despair as they looked at the motionless Yuuya.
Once targeted and locked on by an Angelic sorcery of this magnitude, escape was virtually impossible. Even a Saint who somehow survived the direct impact would be left permanently crippled.
Click... click... click—
The distinct sound of shattering glass rang out through the blinding light.
Kanzaki and Stiyl shielded their eyes and squinted. Through the glare, they could vaguely see a figure standing firmly in front of them. Yuuya's two bare hands were tightly grasping the massive hand made of pure Telesma. The point where his skin met the Angelic power was violently cracking, exactly as if he were crushing fragile, broken ceramic.
"What?! He grasped the power of an Angel with his mortal hands?!" Kanzaki exclaimed in absolute astonishment.
"How could this be possible?! You seized the power of an Angel physically?!" Stiyl stared in disbelief, his heart filled with sheer horror as his pupils shrank sharply.
That was the power of Angels, drawn directly from the higher Phases! It was completely unmatched by mortal Magicians and could only be manipulated by those who had directly touched the Angelic realm. In the entire Puritan Church, only Archbishop Laura Stuart had ever wielded something like this.
Although Telesma itself wasn't completely unheard of—the English Royal Family possessed a national-level Angelic domain built on the magical foundation of the entire country via the Curtana Original, which allowed them to align their territory with the Archangel Michael. Within the borders of the UK, the wielder of Curtana acted as the Archangel, and the Knight Leader and his Knights were elevated to the status of Angels. Knights wielding that borrowed Angelic power could easily kill even Saints.
It was precisely because of the existence of that national-level magic that no rival magical cabal dared to invade England, making the Puritans one of the three major religious sects in the world.
But to Stiyl's absolute horror, not only was Index actively using Telesma, but this Academy City Esper was somehow directly grabbing this higher-dimensional energy with his bare hands!
Click, click, click—BANG!
As the sounds of spatial shattering grew more frantic, a deafening roar of destruction rang out. A blinding white light instantly robbed everyone in the room of their vision.
The intense light quickly faded, and Kanzaki and Stiyl lowered their arms to witness a heart-stopping scene.
The massive hands formed from Angelic power had been utterly crushed by Yuuya, turning into glowing fragments that slowly dissolved into the void.
Before Kanzaki or Stiyl could even process what had happened, they saw Yuuya shatter the red magic circle hovering in front of Index with a single, casual punch. He appeared directly in front of Index, grabbed her by the shoulders, and forcefully pressed her down from her floating state onto the tatami mat.
'I'd better permanently banish this parasitic system that treats people like weapons,' Yuuya thought coldly.
Yuuya straddled Index to pin her down. He placed his right hand firmly on her forehead and grinned, staring directly into her cold, glowing red eyes as he spoke the command.
"World Rejecter."
Yuuya felt the conceptual presence of the data inside Index.
It felt exactly as if the world were a massive computer server, and Index was just a string of base code within it. Using his right hand, he forcefully isolated a specific, malicious sub-routine from that code and dragged it to the trash bin.
Although the metaphor wasn't entirely scientifically accurate, the conceptual meaning was identical. He was taking the Automatic Secretary and exiling it to a new Phase.
CRACK!
The dense red light surrounding Index shattered instantly, evaporating exactly as if a glass casing covering her body had been violently smashed.
Index's eyes glowed red and flickered erratically as the system fought the banishment, speaking in a cold, glitching, emotionless voice.
"[Judging... determining... error...]"
Before the Automatic Secretary could finish its sentence, the synthesized voice abruptly stopped. The ominous red light in her eyes vanished entirely. Index slowly closed her eyes, her body going completely limp as she fell into a deep, natural sleep.
"You've really racked up a massive debt of gratitude with me now. You're not leaving this apartment until you pay it back, Index," Yuuya sighed playfully.
He held her shoulders, a genuine smile replacing his fierce grin as he looked down at the adorable, gluttonous girl who had finally fallen into a peaceful sleep. He reached out and gently touched her cheek; her skin was warm, and her even, steady breathing indicated that she was perfectly fine. The Collar and the John's Pen mode were permanently gone.
But in that exact moment, Index suddenly opened her eyes.
Her vibrant green eyes were gone, replaced by a deep, shimmering, starry blue color that seemed to contain the vastness of the cosmos. She stared straight at Yuuya.
Yuuya was stunned for a fraction of a second. His expression instantly became deadly serious, and he narrowed his eyes. He felt a strange, suffocating sense of oppression radiating from her gaze—a sensation eerily similar to the illusion of staring directly into Aleister Crowley's eyes inside the Windowless Building.
"World Rejecter... a new anomaly, a coordinate watched closely by the Magic Gods..."
A clear, mature, and deeply amused voice—entirely unlike Index's—came out of the girl's mouth.
After she finished speaking that single, cryptic sentence, the deep, starry blue color vanished from her irises. Her eyes fluttered, and she closed them once more, falling back into a deep sleep.
"..." Yuuya squinted dangerously at the sleeping girl.
'That voice just now... that was the Great Demon Coronzon. Archbishop Laura Stuart. She actually had a secondary, hidden backup failsafe buried deep inside Index's mind just to observe.'
'Am I actively being watched by Coronzon now?' Yuuya smirked, though his guard was raised to the absolute maximum. 'To be of intense interest to both a Great Demon and the hidden Magic Gods at the exact same time... I must be incredibly popular.'
