Outside the room, Kade heard the roar and knew it belonged to his mate.
His hand immediately went to the door knob, and felt like he needed to go back inside.
"Kade," Sera said, catching his arm. "She told us to stay out."
Another roar came from inside, louder than the first.
Takoda began to cry.
"Mother!"
Kade turned toward the door again, his jaw clenched so tightly that the muscles in his face stood out. He could hear the struggle inside, the crashing of furniture and the unmistakable sounds of two wolves moving violently against one another, but the door remained closed.
Inside, Dakota no longer had control of her own body.
Her wolf surged forward, and when she opened her eyes again, she found Cooper standing several feet away from her. He was small compared with her, but there was nothing harmless about the wildness in his movements. His fur was raised along his back, his red eyes fixed on her, and his body shook as another growl rolled from his throat.
