She still felt tired from the journey and everything that had happened since arriving at the estate, but after spending much of the afternoon asleep, she could no longer remain in the room.
She slowly made her way downstairs and crossed the sitting area before heading toward the dining room, where the warm light from the chandeliers spilled across the polished floor.
When Maya entered, Victor's mother and father were already seated at the table. His mother looked up the moment she noticed her and gave her a faint, mocking smile.
"You are finally awake, princess," she muttered.
Maya heard the remark but chose not to respond. She had no desire to create an argument, especially with Victor still away and the entire family already watching her closely. Instead, she composed herself and offered them a polite greeting as she approached the table.
"Good evening, Mom. Dad."
