There was no separating the pain from the light or the light from the heat or the heat from the roaring that had swallowed everything he could perceive. He was inside all of it now, wrapped in the burning heart of a thing so vast that the Lands of Stone could have fallen into it and vanished without the star ever noticing. Every cell of his body was being unmade in the same instant it was being remade, and the only reason he still existed at all was the obsidian that wrapped around each of those cells and refused to let the fire have the last word.
