Chapter 24 - Beneath the truth -Love, Lies, and a Race Against Time

Sometimes, the truth doesn't just hurt—it shatters everything you thought you knew. And when love stands on the edge of life and death, even the strongest hearts are forced to reveal their deepest secrets.

David was waiting for Elina at home. The moment he heard the sound of the door, he rushed towards it in panic. Seeing him so restless, Elina asked, "What happened, David? Why do you look so worried?"

David hugged her tightly once again and kept repeating, "I will die without you… I can't live without you. I know you can't live without me either, then why are you doing this?"

Elina, annoyed, replied angrily, "Will you let me live in peace in this house, or should I just leave?"

Her repeated harsh words hurt David deeply. Unable to bear it, he called his friend Nikhil and said, "Where are you? Meet me immediately." Without wasting another second, David left the house.

Elina loved David deeply, but for the sake of her sister Sarlin's happiness, she decided it was best to walk away from his life. To ensure that Sarlin's life would never face any problems because of her, Elina agreed to marry Jack, the man chosen by her grandfather.

Just then, Elina's friend Robert called her urgently. While still on the phone, she started her car and reached the location Robert had asked her to come to.

As soon as she arrived, Elina asked, "What happened, Robert? Why did you call me here so urgently?"

Robert handed her a CCTV footage and said, "In this footage, the face of the man who tried to assault you is clearly visible."

Shocked, Elina asked, "But where did you get this footage? All the CCTV recordings from that day were already checked."

Without answering directly, Robert placed a watch in her hand and asked, "Whose watch is this?"

Elina replied, "Whose else would it be? It's mine. But what does this have to do with the footage?"

Robert looked at her seriously and asked, "Who gave you this watch?"

Annoyed, Elina said, "Robert, stop joking!"

Robert insisted, "First tell me—who gave it to you?"

Elina replied, "You gave it to me on my birthday… but what's the connection between this watch and the footage?"

Robert then revealed, "You've been using this watch for years, yet you didn't even know it has an auto video recording feature. The moment the red button is pressed, it starts recording automatically."

He continued, "That day, when that man tried to assault you, the red button must have been pressed accidentally. That's why every single moment got recorded in this watch. I've checked everything—this is the strongest evidence we have. Take this to the police. Catching that criminal will be child's play for them."

Relieved, Elina smiled and said, "I knew it… once you came, everything would be fine."

While Elina and Robert were talking, suddenly a boy wearing a helmet arrived on a bike, snatched all the evidence from Elina's hands, and sped away. Both of them tried to chase him, but before they could catch him, Elina's phone rang.

She answered the call, and a voice from the other side said, "Mr. David has met with an accident. His condition is very critical. Please come to City Hospital immediately. Your number was saved as 'wife' in his call list, so we called you. Please come quickly."

Hearing about David's accident, Elina lost control. Like a madwoman, she rushed to the hospital. On the way, she informed everyone at home and asked them to come immediately.

At the hospital, Elina broke down, crying uncontrollably for David. The doctor said, "We have started his treatment, but it is very important for him to regain consciousness."

Elina hugged David and cried desperately, "David, I love only you… only you. Please open your eyes. If you don't want me to marry Jack, then I won't. I will never leave you… please talk to me… wake up!"

David's entire family had arrived at the hospital. The doctor spoke frankly, "The operation was successful, but he has lost a lot of blood. If he doesn't regain consciousness within five hours, he will slip into a coma forever. I'm sorry."

Everyone in the family broke down, but Elina kept crying beside David, repeating, "I love you, David… I love you. If not for yourself, then wake up for me. I will never leave you… please wake up!"

Elina's madness of love was witnessed by the entire Smith family. Jack, Robert, and Sarlin were all present, but Elina was completely unaware of anything around her. Seeing the depth of her love for David, everyone was stunned. It was clearly visible in her eyes—her love for him was pure and profound.

Nikhil was also there.

And then, suddenly, David opened his eyes and said softly, "I love you too, Elina…"

The moment he regained consciousness, Elina hugged him tightly. But after a few minutes, reality hit her—she realized what she had done in front of everyone.

She stepped back, walked towards Jack, and said, "I'm sorry, Jack… I did all this drama just to bring David back to consciousness. I'm sorry, Sarlin…"

Sarlin and Jack both replied, "It's okay." But deep inside, they both understood—Elina and David could not live without each other.

Suddenly, Elina remembered the CCTV footage and rushed out. Robert followed her, but they couldn't find the person who had stolen the evidence.

They returned to the hospital, where Elina met her friend Ridhima.

Ridhima said, "Elina… your would-be husband already has an affair with another girl. You should know him properly before getting married."

Elina was completely shaken. On one side, the face of the man who tried to assault her was about to be revealed. On the other side, questions about Jack and the mysterious girl visiting the hospital haunted her. And then there was her own sister—who was influencing her and why?

Burdened with so many unanswered questions, Elina felt more troubled than ever.

Who is the man who tried to assault Elina?

Will Elina still marry Jack, or will a shocking truth about him come to light?
