But Madam Claudia," spoke a girl with fiery red hair, lifting her hand as her eyes glowed with an uncanny, latent power. "You never told us how humans came to wield magic in the first place."
The teacher offered a faint, patient smile before beginning her explanation.
"Magic," Madam Claudia said, "is the art of channeling one's will and intentions through the primordial energy of the universe—what we call mana. But this energy is not uniform. It was shaped directly by the hands of the gods, and each divine power carries its own distinct essence. That is why no ordinary person can command every element of nature; our souls are inherently limited. Yet, there are rare exceptions. Those uniquely blessed by all the deities may wield every element in existence."
Concluding the lesson, Madam Claudia turned her gaze toward the back of the room. "Nuray," she called warmly, "you are truly brilliant and always so eager to learn. That is a wonderful attitude, and I hope you always keep it."
Later that day, Nuray returned home, her mind still buzzing with the lecture. She immediately sought out her father, bursting into his study with a burning question.
"Father," she asked, "how did our clan come to possess magic?"
Her father's eyes gleamed with pride as he looked up from his desk. "Ah, that is an interesting question, child of blaze. Our clan wields one of the most devastating offensive magics in the world—the flame. We command no other element, for only the Flame God and the Chaos God have blessed our bloodline. That is why no ordinary flame wielder from the outside world can ever hope to compare to us."
He stood up, his expression growing more profound. "The gods gave us the freedom to use magic and exposed us to the deepest secrets of our world. They blessed humanity with this gift, but the bitter truth is that they did not stop with us; other races claimed this blessing as well. To balance the scales, the gods decreed that no regular being could possess all elements. Even so, a few rare exceptions exist."
He walked over to the heavy wooden door and threw it open, stepping out into the cool evening air.
"Come," he said, gesturing for her to follow.
"Dad, where are we going?" Nuray asked, her voice laced with sudden excitement.
He looked back with a sly grin. "Follow me—it's time you saw where our power truly comes from."
Nuray followed him to a towering gate that seemed to hum with an unnatural, celestial energy. "This is the Hall of Fame," he announced, gesturing to the structure. "The resting place of fallen legends and their relics."
"But it's locked," she whispered, stepping back slightly. "I don't think anyone is supposed to go in there."
The heavy silence of the courtyard shattered as her father's hearty laughter echoed against the stone.
Suddenly, the air grew thick, the temperature rising so rapidly that the space began to shimmer with heat haze.
"CHAOS... WAVE!" With a roaring shout, a massive surge of wild, crackling flames erupted from his palm, slamming directly into the surface of the gate.
Instead of melting the ancient metal, the fiery impact seemed to ignite something deep within the structure. With a heavy, metallic groan, the giant gears of the gate roared to life, grinding against one another as the lock mechanism began to spin in a rapid, clockwise motion.
As the colossal doors slowly parted, a bizarre gust of wind rushed out to greet them an unsettling sensation of "cold heat" that brushed against Nuray's skin. It was a paradox of temperature that made her shiver and sweat at the same time, giving her the distinct, dizzying feeling of stepping across the boundary into an entirely different realm.
Vulcan looked back at her, his grin widening as he gestured for her to step forward. Though her heart hammered with a nervous flutter, Nuray swallowed her fear and followed closely behind him.
The moment their feet crossed the threshold, a sudden whoosh echoed through the chamber. One by one, iron torches along the walls burst into life, casting a brilliant, warm glow that banished the shadows.
Vulcan gestured broadly to the towering stone walls, his voice echoing with immense pride. "This is our Hall of Fame for fallen legends and their relics." Nuray gasped. Mounted inside deep, arched alcoves along the walls were weapons and artifacts that seemed to hum with leftover power. She saw a shattered greatsword that still dripped with harmless, glowing embers, an obsidian shield scorched by ancient battles, and crystallized hearts of mythical beasts that pulsed with a faint, dying warmth.
"Every item you see here," Vulcan continued, his eyes gleaming, "belonged to a warrior of our bloodline who pushed their magic to the absolute limit. They are gone, but their fire remains."
With wide eyes, Nuray looked around the glittering, ancient hall, the weight of centuries of power pressing down on her shoulders. Her gaze drifted from the glowing relics back to her father's towering figure.
"Father…" she whispered, her voice barely carrying over the crackle of the torches. "Who are we?"
Vulcan laughed—a rich, booming sound that echoed off the high stone vaults.
"We are the flames that shape this world," he declared, his chest swelling with pride. "A force that decides what shall be protected and what shall be reduced to ash. Blessed by the God of Chaos, we shall never know defeat. We are… the Blazing Clan."
